Warrior Beat: Tavai invited to all-star game
Linebacker Jahlani Tavai has been invited to participate in the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl in the Rose Bowl.
The all-star game is set for Jan. 19.
Tavai’s season was abbreviated because of a shoulder injury. He compiled 82 tackles in eight games in 2018.
“Right now I have to get my shoulder right and get ready for the next level,” Tavai said. “Before that, I want to give support to the team, and let them know I’ve got their back no matter what going into this bowl game.”
The Warriors play Louisiana Tech in the Dec. 22 SoFi Hawaii Bowl at Aloha Stadium.

Awesome for Jahlani. The guy is the heart and soul of our defense and is really glad he will be able to show his stuff for the scouts. I wish he was still able to play so he can go out in a big way with his teammates.
Inglewood, Inglewood always up to no good—go Sole!
A well deserved honor for Jahlani!
#16, they opened up the orange and blue sections, I believe. That means ticket sales have exceeded 30K for this bowl game. Actual turnstile might vary, but it’s still a big leap.
Savich … why do you keep saying Jahlani is 25 years old? He graduated in 2014 from high school … probably 17 or 18 years old. It’s now 4 & half years later … like most 5th year seniors he’s probably no older than 23.
Saw coach Rolo and Batoon heading to LAX this morning. Hope they can persuade some great recruits to come play some ball in paradise.
Attendance 2017 Hawaii Bowl Fresno St v Houston – 20.546. With Hawaii in this year’s bowl, attendance should reach 25,000.
30. In 2016, UH vs Middle Tennessee, attendance was 23.175
Hey Savich, Jahlani was born in 1996. Now do the math you ignorant a$$!
18. Aren’t the orange and blue sections always open ?
Orange and blue sections were always open, and why are people trying to engage a poster who has wrought destruction of this blog in the past? Rule of thumb: Don’t feed the trolls. Sigh …
Is Savich having a conversation with himself? Anyway Savich, 14,000 + 3,000 = 18,000 lol.
In the future, or better yet, immediate future, the football program will see multiple players in all-star games, and more importantly, the draft.
But for now, congratulations Jahlani Tavai.
