Warrior Beat: Scout Bowl
Before today’s scheduled departure to San Jose, the Warriors practiced for 90 minutes, then staged the Scout Bowl. The full-contact scrimmage featured redshirts and developing players.
The defense took the lead, making four sacks and stopping three of the first four drives. Defensive end Zach Ritner was credited with two of the sacks. Dylan Toilolo and Jonah Laulu also delivered big hits.
Led by quarterback Larry Tuileta, the offense drove 75 yards for the only touchdown, with the final 9 yards coming on Kahale Huddleston‘s sprint around left end. Huddleston, who has practiced as a receiver, was aligned as a running back on the scoring play.
In the bonus, winner-take-all drive, the defense was awarded the victory when defensive tackle Doug Russell stormed in to sack Tuileta on first down. The whistle blew and the players sprinted to the locker room to prepare for the trip to San Jose.
“We probably should have gotten one or more of these earlier,” head coach Nick Rolovich said of the Scout Bowl. “These guys work so hard. It was a good chance to see how they’re developing, and to give them a chance to play real football, to compete. They sacrifice a lot for our success on game day. They’re very much a part of our team.”
Scouts honor!
Go Warriors!
Beat da Spartans!
Love this post! Mahalo scouts! Go Warriors! Spank the Spartans!
LIVE ALOHA/PLAY WARRIOR!!!
SJSU has always played tough against UH at home in the past in the past and I do not expect that to change on Saturday.
point spread is just for Vegas line bets
UH win by 1 point I will always take!!
I’d love to hear what UH fans think the biggest misconception of the run and shoot is.
misconception?
I think not — like any other scheme, it does well when players execute their responsibilities well.
like many, any play called can ” go the distance ” ( Field of Dreams )..
Hope Huddleston can develop and get bigger and faster or at least quicker to become a key contributor in a few years
Isn’t this a late departure? Is it a money-saving measure?
Hawaiian flies direct to San Jose, arrives about 9:30 pm so a relatively easy flight. San Diego State game will probably have a similar travel schedule. Today is supposed to be the light practice anyway so good idea to have a Scout Bowl.
UPDATE: the SJSU “tailgate” this Saturday is not a real tailgate as the only food here will be your typical stadium concession food like hot dogs, hamburgers, etc. I also was told that, altho Stephen Tsai will speak at 2:15pm, that the program with Larry Beil will start at 3pm. I know this will be a problem with player parents and some fans as they want to go back to their seats by 3pm to watch their kids warmup; also to greet them when they come on to the field.
Also for list of prohibited items inside this stadium:

ST: Please smash that idiot or provide his IP address & we’ll do it for you. Really affect this blog.
Looking forward to seeing those defensive scout team players named to be solid contributors in the future to better our pass rush!
As for the Spartans, well, as with every team we play from here on out, we need to play them like there is no tomorrow. Bring it and leave it all on the field! We may have a 4-1 record, but we all know that don’t mean squat because that was then and this is now!
Learn from yesterday, conquer today and repeat it tomorrow!
Go Warriors!
Whoa, that is banning for life uncool. Maybe we should meet behind the woodshed.
Speaking of pressure up front, we definitely need that on Saturday to help our DB’s some. Our defense is improving, but we need to start ramping it up as we stride to the meat of our schedule. All three phases of our game need to rise and shine! Go Warriors!
Here’s hoping that Doug Russell decides that he can be a force! Play with reckless abandon my friend!
#15 Savich,
Don’t be joking around like that.
You should be banned from this blog.😡
In the right circumstance, at some point in the season, I hope Tui gets a chance to go in and sling the rock….just becuz.
So much for the comments being civil and in good taste.
And I get SMU’d for saying Good Morning, Hawaii!
Read about Daniel Te’o-Nesheim who died at age 30 on Oct 29 2017.
He was found to have CTE. He graduated from Hawaii Prep and Univ of Washington, drafted in the 3rd round in 2010.
His NFL disability was approved on appeal on May 25, 2018. He started playing tackle football at age 11.

GO WARRIORS!!!
BEAT THE SPARTANS!!!
PLAY LIKE THERE’S NO TOMORROW!!!
The long trip to Army will help the team on this short West Coast trip. Lots of familiarity for the Cali guys and just as importantly, the coaching staff, with Coach Batoon probably having the least experience there.
The best thing about playing at San Jose is that we usually have a fantastic Hawaii rooting section. The Hawaii NorCal chapter will represent! We may not have as many fans in numbers, but we will be louder despite it being their homecoming.!!!
Go Warriors!!!
A really troubling article…about one of our own.

Great weekend of sports this week. Warrior football, Wahine volleyball & soccer, the rest of college football, NFL football….and can you say Ryder Cup…starting now!!! I love this time of year!
Ryder Cup….great matches to start. Europe fans really on the USA…we shall see! USA! USA! USA!
As always, turnovers and penalties will be the keys to the Warriors fortunes. Hope they stay focused and trust their techniques.
Can’t wait to see Tiger tee off. He is riding high, but like the Warriors, that was all so yesterday.
Looking for JoJo to have a big game! Cole should be gaining some confidence to slice the defense when they drop seven or eight.
Alright! Tiger up next!! USA!
I believe in our defense. They are really due to have a complete game. Stop the run and get a couple takeaways!
Only the beginning, but the competition is already fierce! Love it! USA!
Glassman Taala is a budding beast! His play is getting better and better. He can collapse a pocket for sure.
I must be crazy to talk to myself! USA!
Now that order has been restored, albeit momentarily, I bid everyone aloha!
Hey, ST? I think you need more blog admins to 86 this fool on spot. SA already has you stretched thin as is.
Scott- There was a .00001% part of me that was thrilled about Army’s win. I was watching a T____ surrogate on “AM Joy” debating four other people, and I’m thinking: This person is me. Ideologically opposed to the sane people. Yes. I admit I am insane.
Navy offensive coordinator Ivin Jasper, I think, will one day be hired by a Sun Belt or MAC team and dominate.
I still remember where I was when Jasper was passed over for the head coaching job. I was still driving my Chevy Prism, and I was in Salt Lake, just passing the Safeway. I actually screamed.
Cappie, JMO Ivin will stay until Ken retires, then take over Navy. But what do I know, I’m just a burro who can type despite having hooves.
Yawn…same old thing. That’s all you got?
Yawn…
Boring…
Zzzzzzzzzzzzzz…..
Blah blah blah
Go Warriors!!!
Beat da Spartans!!!
Boring…
Go Warriors!!
I hope today’s practice is a good one and everybody is focused on the task at hand.
Go warriors!
