GO WARRIORS !!!
UH basketball practice begins on Saturday; the women start today.
The link to the Fan vote for the Biletnikoff Award is buried by the advertisement above. Look at the last line of ST’s blog entry under it.
I voted, for each one.
the Tuesday afternoon after …
comment regarding our DEFENSE, from the MWC bulletin.
The defense was outstanding despite missing one of their key contributors, Solomon Matautia.
They totaled 1 interception (Zach Wilson),
got 3 sacks (Scheyenne Sanitoa, Kaimana Padello, Kana’I Picanco),
and stuffed the Duquesne Duke offense 9 times for a loss of yards.
In total, they allowed a season-low 11 first downs, 142 passing yards and just 24 rushing yards.
Right now Laviska Shenault Jr of Colorado leads the voting with 27.6%, John Ursua has 5.96%. Rondale Moore of Purdue has 15.95%, so Ursua really needs Hawaii fans to start voting to catch up. Cedric Byrd really lags at 0.55%
So far I’ve voted 5 times. In this short period, Rondale Moore of Purdue has jumped up to 18.39% and Laviska Shenault Jr’s lead has shrunk to 26.32%, so start voting multiple times.
San Jose St’s passing game could give UH’s secondary a hard time.
Besides #15 and #84, they also have 6-5 , 250 TE Oliver who had 6 catches vs Oregon. They also throw to their RB.

Oh, my
Tomorrow is picture day for the basketball team as …
Thwack!
… they prepare to open practice this Saturday.
Thwack!
Sorry about the interruption. A roach tried to creep into the blog again.
🙂
My opinion…The individual of note seems to be not well educated which impedes his desire to be heard and hence, his writing of nonsense to cover his lack of communicative skills. He seems to be a loner who’s provocational tactics over the years, reveal his inability to maintain relationships. He fills the void by getting responses through social media. Contributive content is really not what interests him. There is a sense of perversion in in his self promoted character. He wants you to respond, whether in support or in opposition to satisfy his “attention” deficit. He’s been doing this in many forums for years and will probably not stop anytime soon. It’s his entertainment which is really born through inner turmoil and frustration. To him I say, find your peace. Find your peace. Again, just my take on the guy.
Haka:
That’s a wonderful and on-point observation.
Thank you for the poignant post.
And now back to your regular programming…..
Yeah! Cannot wait for basketball!!!
Gonna be an exciting season with the returnees and the new bigs!
Go Warriors!!!

I appreciate what all the readers do for us.
Yes! Having the ability to at least match up on paper is something we have lacked for years. Let’s go inside out! Let’s go Bows!
Good evening Tsaikos. Call the Coach was interesting tonight. Got to talk to Coach Stutz a little as he filled in for Coach Rolo and Cole, Jeremy, and Castle were there as surprise guests. Talked to Cole a little. Told him his parents came to the Tsaiko tailgate….he told me they said they had a blast…Good job DPK…LOL
Thanks, ST!
Does picture day coincidence with LA Clippers practice? 🤔 Talk about a recruiting plus for future ‘Bows.
Seewhy:
I think the Clippers practice until about 2.
The Warriors’ picture day is at 3:15.
Fourth idea post for a TV ad (third was posted Sept 20). It uses still photographs (presented one after another) over soft music that intensifies as narration is given up until the “tag line” is delivered. The narration is given by Coach Rolovich in his reverent, sentimental tone that often overcomes him when he speaks of his playing days as a Warrior.
{Coach Rolovich narrates}…”What is Hawaii to me?” “You know? It’s not just the beauty of these Islands” {music starts}……” It’s not JUST it’s white sandy beaches”…..{images matching the narration are shown}….”Or the blue, blue ocean here, all those lush valleys, or it’s soft cool breezes”. “It’s more, so much more than just that”……{music and matching images continue}…….
“It’s the culture here”. “The culture of it’s People”. “People from near and far, so diverse, yet together, as one. OUR People”. “It’s the Aloha Spirit”. “Ohana”. “The generosity here that treats you like part of their family”. “Rich or poor, young or old”. “With their hugs that warm your heart, and all the smiles that inspire”……{music intensifies}….{game action photos are now shown matching the narration}…
“It’s the names we wear on the back of our jerseys, of our Family, our Heritage”. “And most importantly the name on the front of our jersey that we so proudly represent and give our all for”. “HAWAII”. “OUR People”…..{music intensifies further}…..{fierce action photos are shown}……..
“Because we know…… that inside the heart of the People here….. Deep inside everyone……… Inside all of us”………..{music and images stop!}………..{tagline is displayed}….
………….”WE ARE WARRIORS”…………..{one last loud chord is struck}
Just an idea using images and music to reflect the passion that Coach Rolovich has for the program and the fans. It might also attract recruits as well. I hope they (the marketing people) can create something similar.
suckabooya-
Oh, the timing.
I’m currently reading Cathy O’Neill’s “Weapons of Math Destruction”.
She worked as a quant for a hedge fund.
The book is a polemic about the lack of transparency in a profession’s overreliance on mathematical formulas.
Before O’Neill writes about the unfairness of firing schoolteachers over a formula that measures their effectiveness or lack of effectiveness concerning student performance, she writes about sabermetrics.
Nobody really knows how WAR is formulated.
Analytics sways me with just one point: I value OBP over batting average.
Ethan Lopez should never have been benched.
He drew a lot of walks.
If you slotted Lopez in the nine hole, it would have given Yamazaki more RBI opportunities.
Ricky Henderson hitting .230 with 130 BBs is more productive to your team than Ichiro Suzuki batting .350 with 40 BBs.
I begrudgingly agree, retroactively, with Rob Dibble on “The Dan Patrick Show”(ESPN Radio days), who would rail against Ichiro for not walking enough.
islandman-
I really like Laura Beeman.
I do not see a pathway for a successful season but I hope I am wrong.
I was hoping Keleah Aiko-Koloi would return to the team.
I do not see her name on the current roster.
Julissa Tago needs to score…a lot. And I think there is the potential to do so.
Not Ethan Lopez.
Eric Ramirez.
Good morning.
Time to bug bomb the place,
cappie, … i hope they do good too. i saw improvement in Middap. Alexander, Hoycard, Rewers on the NZ / Au tour and the newcomers should help too.
Suckkabooya – nice soliloquy. The pauses (with ellipses) reminds me of William Shatner (Captain Kirk) and instead of Rolo, Kirk’s voice filled my head.
“Because we know…… that inside the heart of the People here….. Deep inside everyone……… Inside all of us”…
LOL!
Cappie
Yeah you’re right. I would have never thought there was such a disparity (concerning WAR) between Iichiro’s and Henderson’s value. Looked like they both contributed toward wins equally. It is such a complicated system. I feel like analytics value Kolten more than the “eyes” do so (for now) I’ll be a fan of sabermetrics. Except if it gets me fired. Thanks Cappie.
IGrokSpock
I would assume Batoon would be his “Lieutenant Spock”.
I had difficulty trying to include “the People” along with the Football program to fit the tagline. Yeah, the last part would be awkward for Coach to deliver. The first parts are totally him though.
