Welcome back Mouse; hope we back to those R & S glory days!

I reserved a block of 500 seats at the UH football road game at San Jose St (50-40 yard line seats right behind our Warriors) on Sept 29. To do this, I had to pay for 125 tickets upfront as a deposit. Can you help me out by buying your tix now @$40 each. Mahalo.

Also got tickets for road games at Army; and taking a head count for SDSU.

If I remember correctly isn’t Ryan Henry related to former UH coach George Lumpkin?

  6. SteveM July 30, 2018 12:52 pm

    Aloha Mouse Davis!
Good to see you back again!

Shucks missed the 1st Manoa Matinee…gotta make the next one. I hear the late game “special teams segments” are real special! 😉

  8. Da Punchbowl Kid July 30, 2018 1:28 pm

I hope Mouse is in town for a few games. He looks amazing!

  9. Maddog50 July 30, 2018 1:49 pm

Thanks Stephen for that -O line dance! There are 19 listed on the roster. The most I can ever recall. If you have a chance go to FB homepage and review media guide. Derek and staff did another great job!!! GoWarriors!!!!

  10. Honu888 July 30, 2018 2:31 pm

#5 I’m not sure Ryan Henry was related to Coach Lumpkin but I believe that former RB Will Gregory was.

  11. Stephen Tsai July 30, 2018 3:47 pm

Will Gregory would have been in the NFL if he didn’t get into trouble. He was that talented.

  12. Maddog50 July 30, 2018 4:56 pm

We will see how it shakes our but Alex Dalpe was recruited to play now. He certainly will be in the rotation. It was reported that Cincinnati put a last minute rush on him last year. We will see. He is like a few others that had to complete academics all the way till the end of summer. I expect him to raise eyebrows!

  13. Stephen Tsai July 30, 2018 5:07 pm

    Maddog:
I think Dalpe needed to do a couple things.
He did, and now he’s good to go.
This might be the liveliest UH offensive line in … forever.

  14. burro sabio July 30, 2018 5:07 pm

Hope that Mark Weber and Ricky Logo can work some magic.

Can tell what buses and cars are so I’m not a robot.

  15. Stephen Tsai July 30, 2018 5:30 pm

I was trying to get artsy with a basketball picture. I had the UH team, and a rack of basketballs in the foreground.
    Fail.
Oh, well … sticking to writing.

  16. Stephen Tsai July 30, 2018 5:31 pm

By the way, to the right of Ryan Henry is Bobby Curran.
He said he’s down to 170.

  17. warriorrebel July 30, 2018 7:09 pm

JR Hensley should be Hawaii’s next all MwC offensive lineman. o-line is big key for success for offense this year.

  18. islandman July 30, 2018 7:11 pm

So, basketball teams news tomorrow ?

  19. PONO July 30, 2018 7:30 pm

Levao and Dalpe seem like they have a real nasty streak. Vaipulu hopefully is the next Estes.

LIVE ALOHA / PLAY WARRIOR / DEFEND THE ROCK … GO ‘BOWS … !!!!!

  21. Maddog50 July 31, 2018 2:19 am

I take liveliest regarding OL a couple of ways-physical, verbal, relentless etc. Nothing against the groups of the past but they needed more “gnarl” instead of quiet cerebral yeoman. I’m all for a little chatter finger pointing and physicality. Coach Weber is going to have to prod and “stir the nest to get the best”! GoWarriors!!!

  22. Maddog50 July 31, 2018 2:24 am

Here is a gem to live by-the worst kind of guy you can have on your team is one that doesn’t do what he’s told to do-second worst is the guy that only does what he’s told to do. Holds true in many facets of life and certainly football-

I remember when Ewa Beach won the Little League World Series, Hurricane Katrina hit the next day. The team never got the royal treatment due to an American championship. They never got a chance to be media darlings. They never got to read the Top Ten list on Letterman.

I think Hawaii is going to have an excellent season. And I hope nothing happens that would upstage their success.

As John Lennon once sang, “I read the news today, oh boy…”

This administration, they keep moving the goalposts.

On another note, this must be the mindset of Kirby Yates: “I’m getting old. I’m pitching well. Get me out of here!”

  24. islandman July 31, 2018 6:24 am

Hulland attempted 20 FT’s and made all 20 at his first practice last week, after 13 hours on the plane.

  25. Stephen Tsai July 31, 2018 6:40 am

One of the things I like about Weber is that he said he won’t blame a player who wasn’t taught. If a player makes a mistake but wasn’t taught the correct technique, then the player is not to blame. There have been a lot of teaching moments this year

  26. Stephen Tsai July 31, 2018 6:52 am

This Is the final week of open practices for the public. Take advantage of it. There is no other program that allows the public this much free access. You get to meet the coaches and players. You get a sneak peek. Because after this week, it all goes behind the curtain.

  27. A-House July 31, 2018 8:10 am

with all the changes — new coaching staff, players – “dis ole mind” is confused!

good to see some very familiar names on the past blogging again!

  28. Maddog50 July 31, 2018 11:27 am

Not to say anything but what I have observed at least twice a season for several years in person live game performances. Being a former OL and coaching it at a renowned IL HS for several years at times the OL was somewhat listless and lacked a burning spark. Some of the OL that have gone to NFL have been assessed to be rough or raw in terms of technique-Ian ever so thankful for a veteran college coach like Coach Weber-it will take a trained eye and knowledge of the game at this level to determine when the dust settles, can the starting rotation play execute and win against the best front 7 in the MW. SDSU Wyo Fresno et al. I believe this group will make the biggest strides of all! GoWarriors!!!!

  29. Bryson July 31, 2018 11:31 am

Made it to Last Saturday and Today’s practice and one thing I notice is how fluid and organized the team is, there alot ot coaching going on.

  30. PONO July 31, 2018 12:12 pm

Having experienced coaches like Batoon and Banker probably help with organization. Ain’t their first rodeo.

  31. turfwar July 31, 2018 12:20 pm

Still amazed that Rolo was able to bring in Coach Banker and Coach Weber to join the staff. His best 2 recruits ever as a UH coach. With the financial limitations Rolo is working with he is doing an outstanding job. Now if UH can just match other conference schools in offering comparable COA checks to recruits.

  32. turfwar July 31, 2018 12:28 pm

Watching practice it’s also hard not to notice Coach Batoon. His energy is infectious and he is all over the defense with a booming voice that comes tinged with a southern drawl letting you know this local boy has spent considerable time in SEC Country.

  33. Andrew July 31, 2018 12:30 pm

    31.

Especially if they succeed this year, you’d have to wonder how long they will stick around. Obviously there will be offers heading their way.
