Texas prep QB commits to Warriors

A title-winning quarterback from Texas has agreed to join the Warriors next season.
Zach Daniel of The Kincaid School in Houston told the Honolulu Star-Advertiser he has accepted a 2019 scholarship offer from the Warriors.
Daniel said he is 6 feet, 191 pounds, and capable of running 40 yards in 4.69 seconds. The past season, Daniel threw for 2,532 yards and 24 touchdowns in a pro-style offense that features similar concepts to the Warriors’ run-and-shoot schemes.
“With the changes in the (Warriors’) offense and what they’re doing with the run-and-shoot and the game plan for the future, it’s really exciting to me,” Daniel said.
Kincaid competes in the Southwest Preparatory Conference, which is composed of select private high schools in Texas and Oklahoma. Daniel was a member of Kincaid’s 2015 and 2017 SPC state championship teams.
Daniel drew the attention of the UH coaches at the USC football camp in June. The Warriors also worked with Daniel at a football camp in Dallas.
The Warriors have four scholarship quarterbacks on the 2018 roster:
> third-year sophomore Cole McDonald
> freshman Chevan Cordeiro
> freshman Jeremy Moussa
> senior Larry Tuileta
Justin Uahinui and Kolney Cassel, a graduate transfer from Sacramento State, are walk-on quarterbacks.

Hopefully he will bring some competition to the QB slot. Maybe a Drew Brees clone?.

    CapDog, from yesterday:
IMHO, better for Dylan Thomas to start and pitch 5-6 innings a weekend than 3-4 closing.

Why is the Star-Advertiser mobile website redirecting to some “Amazon” spam – again?

Yay hope we get more recruits from Texas!!

Max Nall appears to be heading to a Division II school and not walking on.

#1, he is like McKenzie Milton in height too. A little heavier (some would equate that with sturdiness, ability to take hits) and nearly as fast. Hopefully, the early verbal commit is not like Milton’s where a scholarship is tied up while the recruit continues to shop around and has no real intent to come here.

#4, Trap previously mentioned his plan to work Dylan in as a starter if he returned – to enhance his MLB Draft stock. Dylan will still have a season of eligibility after next season, so he will have some leverage when it comes to draft/signing.

Great sign to see commits from mainland states for 2019. We may be pointing in the right direction. Go Rolo!!!

Glad to have a great passer commit to UH. I believe he has been anointed “Best Arm in Texas”. I think his size has limited his recruiting options among Big 12 and SEC schools. For Hawaii and Zach, this should be a win-win situation! I look forward to see how our QBs handle the new offense and if the receivers and the QBs are in sync.

    10. Stephen, thanks. Nall’s highlights looked good though and he’s part Hawaiian.

High praise of Zach Daniel from former USC/NFL/CFL quarterback Sean Salisbury after Daniel’s performance at an Elite 11 regional in Las Vegas in May:

“You put on a clinic today with your mechanics and performance, and that arm matched anyone on that field … You proved that having ‘stars’ on your recruiting means nothing. Backseat to no one today.”

Looks like Zach has great potential. Hope he has a terrific senior season… and stays committed to the Warriors when other teams come calling.

Looks like Zach has great touch and can throw the long ball well. Most importantly, he goes through his progressions quickly.

    Welcome #ZachAttack

You would think Milton McKenzie has proven that size is not a obstacle to being a great college QB. Surprisingly, MM wasn’t heavily recruited. It is also amazing and interesting to watch how the brilliance of MM has transferred from a local HS sophomore QB to a nationally ranked collegiate team. Please note that he is a main reason why they are nationally ranked.
