Kuewa set to join Warriors
Kalamaku Kuewa, a 2018 Kamehamaha-Kapalama graduate, is set to join the Warriors as a walk-on.
Kuewa is a 6-foot, 185-pound safety.
In 2017, he was credited with eight interceptions, parlaying one into a touchdown, and three forced fumbles.
Kuewa was named to the Honolulu Star-Advertiser’s all-state second team.
“No. 1, he’s a high-character kid,” Kamehameha coach Abu Maafala said. “He’s a hard-worker. I think UH is getting a steal in him.”
Maafala said Kuewa’s skills as a baseball center fielder transcend to the football field.
“He has incredible middle-of-the-field range,” Maafala said. “He reminds me of a lot of the old-school free safeties who could go sideline to sideline. He has a knack for getting balls.”
Kuewa is enrolled in UH’s second summer session, which begins tomorrow.
GOOD MORNING, HAWAII!
Good get! Glad to see we’re getting more local boys!
I finally figured out if I don’t add a space between paragraphs, the pop-in ads don’t pop in
Aloha kakahiaka Kalamaku Kuewa!!! High character…I really like that. Look not far to the past young man and feel the mana. Peter’s, Espiau, Jackson… Sideline to sideline and bring da hammah!!!

Lebron to Lakers. I don’t think they have enougn pieces yet.
Welcome to the Warriors, Kalamaku!
Love it when a safety is an OF, or better yet CF. FS tend to be like CF, and the ability to track a long ball is key. Football only athletes may not be as good at tracking the long ball and take bad angles or otherwise misjudge the ball. Jason Ross was an example of a safety with such baseball background that translated to deep coverage in football.

First summer session ended. Not sure if they still have PRPs
islandman- I wish Kevin Durant had teamed up with Lebron. Durant ruined Golden State for those who are Stephen Curry fans. It’s not Curry’s team anymore. Winning ha s become too easy. Conditioned from watching Hawaii basketball, I’m not used to excellence. I’m not one of those people who wear sports paraphernalia of other more successsful professional teams or programs.
For me, it’s Brandon Spearman blowing a dunk or die.
Curry will never be considered as one of the all-time greats given his current situation. Durant will get all the credit.
It is my dream to see Curry in a Knicks uniform.
Another one staying at home … hope we’re on to something with this Coaching Staff …
LIVE ALOHA / PLAY WARRIOR / DEFEND THE ROCK … GO ‘BOWS … !!!!!808
CapDog, Stephen will be comforted by his bank account. It’s all subjective anyway.
Hmm. Why was my post awaiting moderation yesterday and not approved?
Duster, they no like work on Sundays.
I’m still not a robot despite accusations to the contrary.
where have all the flowers gone, long time passing
Maybe there’s something controversial in liking Kalamaku Kuewa’s skill set. Or my robotic writing style if catching up to me.
Newbies for all sports officially in da hale yet? Always exciting to peruse the new rosters and conjure up visions of what could be. Okay, don’t want to get in trouble with the feds, but I am a dreamer! Dream on, dream on, dream on, dream until your dreams come true…
