UH football: Bridge is open
In case you missed it, the second wave of Warriors has enrolled at UH.
The start of the so-called bridge program — a two-course session that helps newcomers acclimate to UH while attaining college credits — began this week.
Mason Mataafa, Jonah Laulu, Solo Vaipulu, Khoury Bethley, Zach Rittner, Chevan Cordeiro, Jonah Kahahawai-Welch and Kai Kaneshiro are now eligible to participate in the UH-administered workouts. (They previously were allowed to participate only in the player-run practices).
The next group starts on Monday, July 2, the first day of the second summer session.
That also will be the reporting date for the UH men’s basketball team.

A former UH volleyball player could use some help.
If you can, here’s where to help: Masui Allen
Let’s build that bridge; Go Warriors!
I just reserved a block of 500 seats at the UH football road game at San Jose St (50-40 yard line seats right behind our Warriors) on Sept 29.
To do this, I had to pay for 125 tickets upfront as a deposit. Can you help me out by buying your tix now. So far I sold 80, so only got 45 left. Mahalo.

OK awesome potential here. Strength coach team do your thing with these young men. The sky is the limit with this years class. Feels a little different now (optimism?). Terrific.
Bridging the gap – welcome to the new Warriors, work hard, study hard and play hard!
It’s so sad to hear about Masui Allen – will be making a donation soon, encouraging everyone else to give a little from your heart as he and his family really needs it.
Love Tiger’s commitment and roar to play in front of family and get his degree. In fact, all three commitments make for a solid start to ramping up the quality of future Warriors. Looks like Coach Batoon getting some pieces to the defensive puzzle. Awryte!
I thought Taryn Hatcher leaving was a heart breaker, but Austin Matautia….to…UCLA? Wish him well, but wow. Makes ME uncomfortable.
Yes! The much anticipated, official arrival of the new Warriors! Very exciting! This class could be special. There seems to be some potential to help both sides of the ball. Go Warriors!
Build the Bridge and not the Wall.
Football parents take note-WSU QB Hilinski who took his life in Jan had CTE and the brain of a 65 year old. Per Ferd and articles on the internet. He was 21 years young..
Also in 2010 , a DE from Penn, Owen Thomas had a similar diagnosis. Also 21.
UH bridge program is so attainable, unlike the Bridge too Far in WWII where ‘allied’ forces parachuted into a German tank Division who were in a “rest ‘n recoop” status
kudos to whomever thought of this program to help incoming frosh
do other sports also participate in their own bridge program?
So remember my arrival to Honolulu many years ago. Etched in my mind forever! GoWarriors!!!!
I know my memory is terrible and I cannot remember a year where UH got early football commits from HS seniors-to-be
so far 3 and only in the end of June!
Happy Days are Here Again!!!!!
Now, if only Matlin will allow younger children to pay $5 for seats in the North end zone, yellow seats, including their parents or whomever brings them to each home game without displacing current fans who have purchased tickets the past 5 years.
some will says that’s CRAZY, but $50,000 income each home game vs ZERO INCOME FOR EMPTY SEATS????????? and, concession stands open of the 3rd level for additional income for Aloha Stadium and organizations who man the concessions.
winnah winnah chicken dinnah!!
Eh Savich (dean sabado), you never play for Waimea High School. I only remember you playing for Kekaha Pop Warner.
Good luck to the new recruits! Let’s keep the momentum going onward and upward.
Not a bot, no doubt!
GO WARRIORS!!!
ST, paging ST. We need to 86 the nuisance.
Arkansas fans held up signs that ruined the game for me. Now it feels like a battle for the soul of America.
Why such a negative blog?
I get enough bad vibes watching cable news.
Ross Kagawa is one of my all-time favorite Bows.
I think Randy Oyama may still hold the put-out record for a season.
What is going on with this blog? Hawaii Football is having some down years since June Jones left in 2007, but it will turn around eventually. Even the Bad News Bears Baseball team won after years of losing. Somethings have to change in the football program before winning can happen like the 2006-2007 Hawaii Warrior Football seasons.
History repeats itself. And learning not to repeat the same mistakes is hard.
Sky is fallin we’re all doomed-not so. Close to home example as much as it hurts……Fresno State in one year from worst to first. New guys but more importantly new coaches. The Def Coordinator is now J Jones asst head coach. Things will be much improved in 18. GoWarriors!!!!
Three Razorbacks in foul territory on the first base side can’t see what’s right in front of them.
I see a metaphor in that.
Earth 1 forces a third game against Earth 2.

Sports Animals had a special secret guest this afternoon. I wish I could recap but I missed it, had to start work.
One more staying home …
All-State linebacker/safety Dylan Toilolo was all set to enroll at the University of Utah when he decided to make a Ute-turn.
He now will join the University of Hawaii football team.
Toilolo said he will begin taking classes on Monday, the first day of UH’s second summer session, and report to the Rainbow Warriors’ training camp on July 26.
A prominent and respected football magazine, Phil Steel has hit the stand for his 2018 news and prediction.
Phil Steele has been almost predictable every year concerning our University of Hawaii Warrior football team.
For 2018, He sees our Warriors not making it to the 2018 Hawaii bowl game, and predicted our Warriors will end up in the celler in the Mountain West Conference western division. The reason, there were a few potential starters that decided to transfer to other schools, Also our Warriors will be under going a rebuilding year,.
But I really believe our 2018 will not end in the celler but will win enough games to be eligible to play in the Hawaii Bowl on December 24, 2018. My reasons is the return of the RUN AND SHOOT offense. A very much improved Defensive unit. Chevan Santiago the number one high school quarterback in Hawaii last season – and HE comes from a school, St, Louis Crusaders who utilizes the RUN AND SHOOT offense.
Fill in the dots.
When are we going to get the Hawaii bowl ticket renewals? Did anyone get their renewals?
There was a Law & Order SUV episode in which a guy incited others to do criminal acts. He wasn’t worried about being imprisoned because he didn’t need to personally meet with the others. But then the worst thing happened to him. His computer and mail privileges were taken away. He was free to speak but there was nobody to listen.

recall J Aku Head Pupule telling listeners to NOT pay federal income taxes
yet, when someone asked him if he pays his taxes, his reply was of course, I’m no fool!!
I’m with Paniolo — also believe that UH will qualify for the Hawaii Bowl — would be even better if the Sugar or Citrus
oh, oh, so many of us went and remember, to this day, of the wonderful experiences in Nola!
dang, at one sitting, I ate 3 servings of that light puff covered in powdered sugar — yummy of the tummy!
ST, keeping the law & order! Mahalo!
