Spring practice No. 11
Another spring football practice, another rainy, rainy day.
This time, it was the defense’s turn to shine:
> In the team session, cornerback Rojesterman Farris II deflected a pass away from wideout Marcus Armstrong-Brown, and later scored on a pick-6.
> In a winner-take-all session, defensive end Kaimana Padello and linebacker Jahlani Tavai each made sacks as the defense stopped the offense. That meant … the offensive players had to run gassers after practice.
> The deepest unit appears to be the corners, coached by Abraham Elimimian. Farris, Eugene Ford, Zach Wilson, Akil Francisco, Mykil Tolliver give the Warriors a nice corner rotation.
> Armstrong-Brown made his second practice in a row after missing most of spring with ailments. Armstrong-Brown, Isaia Leeth, Karson Greeley, Eric Rooks and Jason-Matthew Sharsh are wideouts with power and jump-ball capabilities. Armstrong-Brown used a post-up move to catch a scoring pass from Cole McDonald in the red-zone drill.
> Yep, McDonald and slotback Cedric Byrd teamed on yet another touchdown play.
> Sheyenne Sanitoa is getting a lot of reps when the Warriors are in a two-linebacker sub-package.
Foist! Looks like there is some separation being made with McDonald and the others?
Cappie, coach Delanian is back with the Wahine basketball team.
good thing Coach Laura did not fill his position
what’s his ‘prognosis’ for a long term stay w/’o worrying about deportation again?
A-House: Darron Larsen was the coach from NZ with the work-visa problems; Delanian was on Beeman’s staff previously before leaving for UCSB.

if Delainian came back, it would be the oddest thing ever. Leave a school…go to a rival and then return to that school all in 3 years.
I’m glad it’s Larson. I like him. He has much more bbal knowledge than Alex and I can see him being a important part of our team now that he is supposedly safely entrenched.
Oh my bad…it is Delanian. OMG….how can that happen???
I thouight it was Larson, then I read went to Hawaiiathletics.com and it was Alex.
Kind of disappointed to be honest.
Kahuna: As islandman said at #2, Delanian has returned. It’s been announced on the UH athletics website. Yup, go figgah.
I thot this was a football blog. But the wahine bb team needs help in recruiting. they were not athletic enough and couldn’t shoot-bad combination.
Mahalo for the updates on Warrior FB Meestah Tsai!
#8….I know this is a football blog so I was surprised to see Island man post here too but hey…if he post here and I go back and post at the baskeball blog, then we going get confused…LOL
Maybe IM wants Tsai to be the beat writer for the Wahine basketball team next season and this is a hint to the SA.
Food, Family, Friend, Football & Fishing?
yep, get all kinds and I for one do not mind — yet, more football is bestest!!!
and, there be other points of interest non-related to any of the above that can have great impact on all 5 items above — for example, if the N. Korea and S.Korea decide to end the Korean conflict with a treaty that would be awesome!! but, must USA and China agree or no go?
potential recruiting expansion?
This is also the baseball blog. Since cappie posts about wahine basketball at times, i posted something on that for him. There hasn’t been a Wahine basketball blog, until recently.
8. There is supposed to be a pretty good (Wahine) shooter coming in for next season.
N Korea had said if the US pulls out of S Korea then N Korea will consider denuclearization. But now i read that condition has been withdrawn by N Korea. Is that for real though ?
Bows ERA in conference is 5.01, Fullerton, 2.60
free akil francisco.
Are they practicing on the grass field or Ching Field on rainy days?
thanks, islandman.
Wow. Didn’t see that coming.
Delanian.
Can we get Mary Wooley back, too?
The ex-Rutgers guard is very intense.
I sometimes wonder if the players are afraid of her.
A cursory look at Cal State Fullerton’s statistics tell me that they’re aggressive hitters(probably going for the home run), but are coming up empty.
All of their players have more strikeouts than walks. (Hawaii has three players with more walks.)
Eric Ramirez, in the eyes of a sabermetrician, is having a great season. .224 batting average but he has a higher on-base percentage than Yamazaki. Ramirez has 26 BBs. Arguably, he should be the lead-off hitter. But he lacks speed.
Hawaii has more runs than the Titans. 14/8.
Hawaii needs to capitalize on Cal State Fullerton’s down year.
Rice never had a year like this.
Great Morning All!
Nice read about the early admit at QB. He seems to be fitting in nicely. 😎
To Islandman post: Concerning South and North Korea, I read that North Korea want to end the cold War or what you call it with South Korea. The North Korean leader will meet with the South Korean leader to discuss the end of the War. This meeting is before our President Trump meets with the North Korean Leader next month.
This news is really too good to be true….but if the North Korean leader will backup his seriousness of ending the war with South Korea by releasing all those in prison, including a couple of American Christian Pastors that would be a good sign that he is serious.
Back to Warrior football: I will not get too anxious and be happy to hear good news coming out of spring camp. After fall camp, will see how this 2018 Warrior football team will turn out. The test of opening the season on the road against Colorado State who literally Kalua our Warriors on our turf last year 52-21 I believe.
Is walk on QB Max Nall still coming in the fall ?
———————————————————————————
Paniolo, Stephen said on the radio he thinks Cole is the opening day QB, even considering who is coming in the fall.
Stubblefield and Leeth are doing well, among others.
How is kalakaua timoteo doing? What’s the status on him?????
I am ready to see Stubblefield play — he was so exciting to watch during his HS career.
like Greely at a WR spot — tall, lean, good hands, can block smaller safeties, and can run — hey, why not use him and a taller WR in the “slot position” on selected plays?
most interesting should be the DEFENSE — coaches with years of experience who can teach players – new and old!
OK, all is god with Cole MacDonald as the starting QB
hope Chevan will make all QBs run for their money with all his experience with a RnS offense — possible red shirt to insure continued solid back up availability?
dang, “god” should be “good”!!!!!!
I am not a Christian. no harm with dat!!!
hope coaches will use Genta as a RB before his career is over
last spring ball — ST had some good things to say – still true now?
ahouse,
You’re right. “GOD should be GOOD”! Got too many being worshipped that seem otherwise, these days.
Is ahouse same as A-House or a home ?
islandman:
blog wiped out my original ID and inputted same name, but different format which is incorrect.
me same — gotta keep A-House
yikes!! computer automatic name ID is back!!!!
MIH:
long time no heah!
how U stay? did you get flooded out last weekend?
from our valley, it seemed that your place and points “north” were getting plasted by rain, thunder, and lightening — we had our fair share too!
be good — stay well.
ahouse,
Thanks for asking. We stay doing well. Hope you and yours are, as well. My shop in Kahaluu gets hit the hardest. Where we live pours but drains pretty well.. I think the neighbor behind gets all our rain water when it comes down heavy.
Looking forward to the upcoming season.
Underrated Dublin band that recorded from 1988-1995: A House.
It’s hard to Google them because there band name is so prosaic.
You have to Google: A House band.
In Ireland, in some circles, they are more important than U2.
Somebody Google “Endless Art”. It’s brilliant.
Cappie will be dancing all night long.
Dang it, I looked at the wrong box score.
Wahine Softball lost to Fullerton too, 3-4.
The Fullerton pitcher was a magician and she doesn’t throw hard.
Howzit Tsaiko’s!
Another stud decided to walk on this year:
https://twitter.com/BIGKAUKS/status/987591290626834432?s=19
The walkon I most look forward to seeing is Kahale Huddleston. I predict he could be another John Ursua. Dude to running skills, got speed and got strength.
I think we are very fortunate to get the guy.
