JC safety commits to Warriors
Manase Time, a highly recommended safety from Golden West College (Huntington Beach, Calif.), has accepted a UH scholarship offer.
Time is 6 feet and 205 pounds.
He will have three years to play three UH seasons.
Time is named after Manase Jesse Sapolu, the Farrington and UH graduate who earned four Super Bowl rings during a 15-year career with the San Francisco 49ers. Sapolu and Time’s father have been friends for more than 30 years.
“I’m so happy he’s becoming a Rainbow Warrior,” Sapolu said. “He’s a great, young man. He doesn’t say much but he’s one of the toughest players for his size that I’ve ever coached.”
Greg Biggins, national recruiting analyst for 247Sports, remembered Time as under-sized defensive end who amassed 22.5 career sacks for Edison High.
“Coming out of Edison, there are two things,” Biggins said. “They play extremely hard and they’re very, very well coached. (Time’s) technique is advanced (in) using his hands. (He’s) a super smart player, and just a relentless motor.”
GO WARRIORS !!!
2018 class looking good.
Hmmmn, is this perhaps the reason our Kahuku guy left?? Nice sign….does he have wheels—what’s his 40?
Warrior Time!
3 to play 3 is nice.
Go Warriors!
Can’t find much information about him. If it’s true that Lewis is also leaving this fills an immediate gap.
#3 – Boolakanaka. Think the Pittsburgh Steelers with a ponytail. That’s Manase Time.
Great News!
https://www.hudl.com/profile/3437333/Manase-Time
Doesn’t seem like an instant contributor if he played DE in HS. Only has one year of experience playing in the defensive backfield.
Morning Tsaikos!
#3-Boola: my thoughts exactly as i was reading ST’s write-up.
From yesterday’s post, wondering who Maddog was talking about.
Very good pick up… more talented guys like this will lead to winning seasons.. you get 25 scholarships a year. Of standards for each guy are like the past 2 days, things will look up. Staff can’t settle.
Time played DE RB LB DB in HS. Kid has a motor with speed and quickness to boot. His huddle clips will make your head hurt! GoWarriors!!!! Don’t know how it was shaking out but had offers and interest from PAC 12 schools and upper tier MW teams USU and CSU. We need Passion this young man brings-gonna be a crowd pleaser!!!!
Hammah will contribute pretty early if he can be as physical as his film shows.
He could play nickelback or a rover type of player where he could blitz off the edge. This guy looks like he can contribute right away.
As for starter, you never know. We have a new DC so everyone start from square one and will have a chance to compete for starting spots. My guess is the favorite for safety is going to be Kalen Hickes and maybe Jay Dominique. I like both of them. Both are physical, big and can run.
Dang!! The highlight showed three pancake blocks while playing running back. I think after Rolo sees him block like that, they may want to put him in the backfield in the Run and Shoot.
Very talented guy to say the least.
Jeezy can explain what UH likes about him.
LOL good one Mr. Tsai!
Haha OK I’ll wait for the Jizz analysis.
Kifi #6:
after watching his highlight clip — understand your comment about Steelers with a pony tail
dang, he has a very high motor — strong, quick feet, good instincts to the ball carrier, confirms his 4.52 speed — talk about stopping the ball carrier!
great job coaches!!!! — 2018 recruiting class may rate very high against others in since 2011.
One of the things that I love about college athletics is there is always someone else who WANTS to be here. And that someone else could be better than the player that doesn’t. Diamonds in the rough….. Players HAVE to buy-in, feel like they belong and WANT to be HERE
College is LIFE.
Golden West College? Isn’t that where Kody Afusia is coaching now?
Welcome Manase!
Just got this email from Rolo:
Tom,
Received your email from my mom. Can’t tell you how thankful we are for what you have done throughout the years. I would like to pledge $500 to the account. Please put a $50 in the name of all the assistant coaches, I will let them know. Appreciate it.

Excellent! Loving these recruits – easy to see Manase contributing right away!
This is shaping up to be another great year of recruiting.
GO WARRIORS!!!
(Call me Notbot!)
Nate Jackson
Justin Aufaga and Menses Time seems to be clones. Both same size. Both very athletic. Both play both sides of the ball in HS. If these two live up to their hype, they will be hard to keep off the field. May need to devise scheme to put both on the field at the same time.
OOOPS!….my apology to Mr.Aufaga. It’s Justice and not Justin
Not football related, but has anyone noticed that the local news stations (KHNL, KGMB, KITV) sports coverage have been non-existent. Some nights they have no coverage at all. Not even national sports.
#26: KFVE, KGMB & KHNL said that people can get scores online. They will only have a sport related feature once in awhile. Guess KITV & KHON also pared down their sports segments.
RE: #27
Mahalo! I had a feeling that would their kind of response.
Might need to bring back the dance studio during fall practice. Having everyone together will help them gel more on the football field.
Nah….they need to do away with the dance studio set up forever. Too much hassle to set up. Not very sanitary condtion. Probably tons of players snore…thus many unable to get a good night sleep . Not enough space to comfortably accommodate the team. One person getting sick and coughing could infect the entire place. Very hot and humid during the summer.
Just not something you want to promote. Rolo and the coaches can find other team bonding activities to promote chemistry. We already have subpar facilities….why would you want to put players in even more caveman-like conditions.
I hope we never go back to that set up. The studio was a mess as player wake up to get teady for practice and just left their cots undone and towels/blankets lying all over. Looked like a pigsty. That much people living in such close quarters in such unsanitary/non air conditioned room is asking for trouble.
Much better set up camp at a military base. They force you to keep the place tidy and neat and they also have humane living conditions.
HTA should put the boys up in a nice hotel for a week that would help recruiting for the next year. HTA’s donation.
JDog:
did I miss seeing your name on Tom Kitaguchi’s list?
Great Morning All!
What Time is it?
Tom K:
received a notice/receipt from UH Foundation of our donation to the Hawaii Football Warrior Nation

…didn’t realize the donation thing was a competition.
🙄
absolutely, no “competition”!
passing wind:
always wait until someone else is in the vicinity to blame
#37 – or blame the dog
I’m not a robot
burro:
that reminds me — we had a lot of dogs growing up, but do not recall smelling their “fart” — wonder what it smells like?
saw them making #2 and had to clean up
Not impressed with this JC kid. Didn’t play DB in high school and last year he redshirted. UH is just desperate for players. He’s gonna get smoked playing safety in the mountain west.
#40 – I realize that you have your opinion. However the coaches probably relied on the opinion of a man who has four Super Bowl rings. After playing 13 years in the NFL, his opinion might be almost as valid as yours. Can’t blame the coaches for believing in Sapolu’s opinion, even though the young man is his namesake.
Some people can put up a front and pretend to be someone they are not. They are called “Emma Taters”.
Somebody pointed out that Yoro has on his twitter that he is OLB coach now.
When all said and done betting Warriors finish in upper half of MW in recruiting and probably in the 80’s nationally. Not good enough yet but not even close to desperate. Last years class was pretty good compared to years past-this year will be better yet. Not sure of the accuracy of this but according to 247 Time had PAC 12 offers and MW offers-getting smoked or smokin sumthin! GoWarriors!!!!
there is a solemnness in the air and I thought of Florida Ted whom we met at a Golden Corral in Orlando, Florida when UH played Florida.
he drove nearly 2 hours from his home and met with the A-House family, BigHiloFan and his family, Mark Takai, Chawn_cut, and ??? — seems like I left a name or two out
we had a grand time just getting to know him personally, talking Warrior football, and discussing his book which was to be published soon, but never did because of his passing.
Kifi, drop da mike……nice!
Good, good pick up. We are lucky to get a hitter like this. Last years defense was so lacking in exciting, big time hitting. To me the hardest hits (tackles) were from Zeno last season. His size to impact ratio reminds me of Niko Vitale and Nate Jackson. Maybe he wont be good in deep coverage (for now) but he will be a versatile piece that will compliment Mautautia and Tavai. I wouldn’t want to get hit from him (at any position not only as a returner because he seems to “assplant” people randomly) on special teams coverage. Hope is injury is fully healed.
Re: #26 – KITV’s 10pm News is a 60 minute broadcast so the sports report with Brandi Higa comes on around 10:40pm. They do a good job of covering UH, high school, local and national sports including locals in the pros.
