The next wave
Bryan Addison Jr. of Junipero Serra High is a 4-star football player who is regarded as one of the top safety recruits in the country.
It should come as no surprise that his father was a hard-hitting safety for the 1992 Rainbow Warriors that went 11-2, capped by the victory over Illinois in the Holiday Bowl. That season, the elder Addison was instrumental in thwarting Air Force’s flex-bone offense in UH’s 6-3 road victory.
“He was a high school quarterback/athlete,” former UH coach Bob Wagner said of the elder Addison. “He was a good athlete, tough, played hard. He was a good guy, good football player.”
Addison also was a first-round pick — second overall — in the first World League of American Football draft in 1995 (following a three-year hiatus).
Also of note, the UH basketball teams of the late 1980s produced some next-generation athletes, such as:
> Roman Andrus is the starting left tackle for Utah State. His father, Alan Andrus, was a starting forward for UH.
> Kaleb Holcomb, a tight end from Ohio, has committed to play for the Air Force Academy. He aspires to be a doctor. His father is Bill Holcomb, a former UH post player.
> George Bento, a rush end from West Centennial High in Florida, amassed 31 tackles for loss this past season. His father is golf pro Arlen Bento Jr., a former UH and Waiakea High forward.
> Tiyana Hallums averaged 3.26 digs per set as a defensive specialist for Gonzaga this past season. Her father is David Halllums.
GO WARRIORS !!!
George Bento sounds good…
31 tackles for loss.

Come on home, Milton. The coach who recruited you
is going home, and taking the entire coaching staff along.
Nebraska: Nebraska has now made it official, Scott Frost is bringing all 10 assistants from UCF.
Come on home Milton.
and bring 2, 3 or more speedy, speedy wide receivers.
and bring 1 or 2 speedy, speedy kick returners.
and bring plenni BEEG bumbuchas for DL and OL.
ST:
your opening post was most intriguing — especially with your lead phrase, “the next wave”
is it maybe or YES, YES, they will sign on 12/20/17.
me brain too tired — no can read between the lines like others.
David Hallums was a naughty math student at Pearl City High
4. That’s rough. I feel really bad for the players. They’re stuck there unless they wanna sit out a year. In cases like that, they should be able to transfer without penalty
Come on home, Milton.
Play at Aloha Stadium in front of your family and Ohana.
There will be no need for your family to fly 5,000 miles
to see you play.
And, you can help make Hawaii GREAT again !!!
Milton needs to stay right where he is and finish what he started. He picked the right school to showcase his abilities and the program gave him National exposure. Unless the new coach is going to a pro set type and plans to hand the ball off a ton then he needs to stay put and hang in there with his teammates and especially the offensive guys that played so hard for him all year. He is unquestionably a leader on that team and if he were to come home now would be against the character traits that got him to where is today. Not to mention that it will be years if ever that UH can match the talent at UCF and many of the guys who started are young and returning. I am a huge Milton fan, always have been even to the point of saying years ago that I thought this guy was a better QB than Tua which got me slammed. But I still stand by that today. He is much more than a passer or runner. Didn’t miss a single UCF game that was televised this year. He’s not a guy that the NFL will look at but you never know. For me I’m hanging my hat on the two new commits that UH is hoping to sign in a couple weeks. if Milton comes back he will have to redshirt and that would just end up taking opportunities to potentially a new gunslinger to make his mark as a Warrior. And that to me makes this an exciting time.
#8. I would think that he would follow his coach to Nebraska if he transfers anywhere, if at all.
Why would Milton leave UCF? Josh Heupel, regarded as one of college football’s top offensive coordinator, runs a no-huddle offense. His QB at Missouri threw for 43 touchdowns, which would lead me to believe Milton won’t be just handing off the ball.
UCF is a program on the rise. I would think Milton would like to finish what he helped start. Great kid doing great things.
Interestingly, among three touted transfers who sat out last season is former Punahou stud Canton Kaumatule (Oregon). IIRC, the others are a DL from Notre Dame and a DB from Alabama.
#10 Chances are zero according to Bobby Curran he sites an ethic code whereby a coach will not raid the team he left. Frost wouldn’t do that to UCF.
#12 UCF blocked ALL scholarship players from transferring to Nebraska except for Freshman QB Noah Vedra who is from Wahoo, Nebraska

Great Evening All!
Better than Tua, you say? Hmm…

Waianae Tigers Win Pop Warner Div. II
Jr. Pee Wee National Championship.
YEE HAW !!!
By Brandi Higa
The Waianae Tigers are Pop Warner’s first-ever National Champion from the state of Hawaii.
The Tigers defeated the Creeks Outlaws on Friday, 16-8 to win the Division II Jr. Pee Wee National Championship.
Nine to eleven year olds went undefeated throughout the championship, beating the Western Branch Jaguars and Merrillville Pirates before Friday’s win in the final against the Creeks Outlaws from Jacksonville, Florida.
Head coach “Jimbo” Joseph Jr. reacted after the game saying “Trust me we have a lot going on and a lot of pressure. We stood focused, we took priority with priority we took fun only when we had to we locked down these boys a lot.”
“Everyone just worked so hard to do this and I cannot say enough. Bringing this home for the community is huge for us. Waianae is a football town. We bleed football over there and we love football,” Joseph continued.
The Tigers have made it to the Pop Warner Super Bowl four times.
Another team from Oahu, the Kaneohe Knights finished third in the Division I Pee Wee Championship.
The games took place this week at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando, Florida.
As I’ve grown older, I’ve learned to root for what’s good for the kid instead of what’s good for the program.
Mackenzie Milton is leading an undefeated middle-of-the-road Central Florida with a chance to upend a SEC powerhouse.
We should feel happy for the guy.
I apologize, retroactively, for booing Micah Matsuzaki. (Do I have his name correct? The BYU receiver.)
I forget.
Was Levon Largusa a local product?
If he was, he chose the wrong program.
He should have concentrated on pitching.
Levon Largusa was a University of Hawai‘i pitcher from SoCal. He was drafted in the 3rd round as a pitcher.
The Aloha Stadium experience was as fun as my wisdom teeth being pulled. All 4 at once. Be sure to buy the nachos and beer!
Shoot the ball, two guard.
It doesn’t make sense passing the ball back to a 20% shooter from the field.
Tom? Are you on drugs? Pakalolo. Win first.
Who was Levon Largusa? Are you a coach?
#23 you the one who needs to go to Kahi Mohala for rehab and electroshock therapy.
Long way from home. Florida. Cheerleading.
Joke. Why give my money?
Milton is not in the Hawaii bowl. Houston vs. Fresno State. And not too much people will be at the game.
About 12,000
Sit in front of the stove.
“Give me heat. Then I will give you coal.”
GOOD MORNING, HAWAII!
The main reason why any program weakens or fails is from the non-support of its fans.
And support does not mean just showing up at the games. Support means $$$ and every dollar – whether $1.00 or more helps.
Howzit Tsaikos!
tom-warriornation: I gave my $20
Clearly some UH fans have stronger attachments for Mackenzie Milton than he has for Hawaii. I’m not interested him because he’s not interested in UH.
Other posters here don’t understand the commitment that fans like Tom have made to the UH. Giving funds to hep the program has little to do with each year’s win-lose record and a whole lot more about a commitment to the school, it’s athlics and the student athletes who participate on the UH football team. That what real aloha spirit is about … not sitting back and being critical of efforts to raise funds for our athletic programs. Guys who just want to be negative and never supportive are missing out on the true meaning of life. They are the real losers … but rarely realize it. er
I disagree. Support = showing up at the games. A good fan crowd inspires the players to play above their best. I am just disappointed so little support from the students. Except for the band. The UH marching band does a good job. Cheering squad too.
