How can Oregon and Oregon State have the same ranking as 24 (listed in your parenthesis). What does Pablo mean?
Well, if the team did not practice the last few days, how come Robyn Ah Mow didn’t take time off to visit her family in Las Vegas?
Pablo is a proprietary algorithm, a ranking system. It’s not used by the NCAA, which uses RPI. Both RPI and Pablo look at results in order to rank. Pablo takes into account match sets played and set scores, as well as teams played and w/l. The Pablo algorithm over time has been adjusted to improve it, while RPI has remained the same. Neither ranking system is meant to be used for predicting future outcomes, but near the end of the season they begin to have some predictive value. Pablo arguably has more value in that regard than RPI. http://www.richkern.com/vb/Rankings/PabloFAQ.asp
2. Thanks for your answer. So two teams can have the same Pablo rankings such as Oregon and Oregon State?
Coorrection, Sunrise_blue = KOH I NOR
Codename
Any idea who they might match up Hawai’i with in the regionals? BW obviously was settled by Hawai’i. And where?
2. Pablo, like RPI, first generates a raw score. From the raw score and any adjustments made to it, comes the ranking. So if two teams wind up with the same score after adjustments, they can share the same rank. It doesn’t happen often, but it can happen.
5. Hawaii could wind up anywhere. The beauty of Hawaii to the NCAA committee is that they so far exceed the 400 mile geography boundary guideline. They can ship Hawaii into any regional that’s short on teams that meet the geography guidelines, and where Hawaii’s RPI ranking can reasonably balance the regional seeding. That said, it’s somewhat less likely they’d ship Hawaii to the eastern half of the country, since they can usually fill those regionals with geo-local teams.
A couple of conference championships are up for grabs still. The results of both are of interest; they can impact Hawaii’s at-large chances. Links:

BE: http://www.bigeast.com/tournaments/?id=61
In the MVC Championship, best scenario for Hawaii is for no AQ-bid steal from a weaker RPI team. Missouri State (Pablo 38) and UNI (39) are the #1 and #2 seeds. Illinois St. (65) is the hot team that threatens to steal the AQ.
In the BE Championship, again, best scenario for Hawaii is for no AQ-bid steal, and for Marquette to win the BE Championship. Creighton (Pablo 27) and Marquette (30) are the #1 and #2 seeds. Villanova (72) and Butler (45) threaten to steal.
LSU losing to Tennessee today will help the Wahine. Another intriguing match-up today is the Oregon – Oregon St match. Will be interesting if the Ducks lost this one; would be their 5th consecutive loss late in the season.
Welcome to the Warrior ohana, Chad Giesseman!
Website has the MVB roster up. I count 5 newcomers
– Nathan Yung, Fr, Libero, Iolani
– Gage Worsley, Fr, Libero, Calif
– Jayce Ashment, Jr, S, Long Beach City College
– Jake Meyer, Fr, MB, Calif
– Max Rosenfeld, Fr, MB, Illinois
I don’t see Evan LaRochelle on the roster and Colton Cowell has been moved back to OH. Tui is listed as a Senior.
8. H-Man, unfortunately, LSU pulled it out in five, after being down 0-2. Good chance the Wahine could have traded places with LSU in the RPI standings had LSU lost the match.
LSU escapes for another day. But they have a weak resume. No top 25 wins. Top 50 wins were High Point and Auburn (2x). Auburn plays Arkansas tomorrow, if Auburn loses they probably drop out of the top 50. High Point could drop out of the top 50, and they have no more matches. LSU RPI may edge up today, but could drop back tomorrow. If Auburn wins tomorrow, that works against Hawaii’s chances. But, LSU has a loss to Baylor, so in a head to head vs. the LSU resume, Hawaii may look stronger.

new thread up
just put Pablo up for argument’s sake
Tuileta is a senior by NCAA standards this year. They likely will appeal the ‘lost year’ since he participated in fall VB ball before transfering to UH.
