Classy move by Irvine to honor our seniors. Go team!
1. they are at UC Davis.
UH always recognizes the visiting seniors. nice to see it reciprocated.
UH up 8-4. TO UCD. Aggies with 5 hitting errors. 4 which haven’t cleared the net.
Wahine with one kill. that on a tip by Iosia.
Granato 3-0-5. it’s 13-7. TO Davis.
Kahakai one dig away from tying Tita Ahuna for No. 3 all-time digs.
Maglio blocked again. she is 0-3-9
Davis pulls to 15-14. TO UH.
Maglio with 3 errors on 9 attempts, no kill yet. They’ve got her number.
Iosia with 4 kills already. A couple were from Ma’afala’s sets.
UH wins 25-18
Granato 5-0-7, Iosia 4-0-6, Koelsch 3-0-6, Maglio 2-3-12, Castillo 1-0-3, Burns 0-1-4
UH running a 6-2 late with Iosia on the outside. Ma’afala setting.
I like norene hitting in the front row she seems to hit harder than casey and kendra.
The 6-2 was an interesting look.
UH wins Set 1, 25-18
Granato 5-0-7, .714, 2 digs
Iosia 4-0-6, .667, 8 assists, 1 dig, 1 block
Koelsch 3-0-6, .500, 1 assist
Maglio 2-3-12, -.083, 1 block
Castillo 1-0-3, .333, 1 block
Greeley 5 digs, 1 ace, 1 assist
Kahakai 5 digs
Ma’afala 4 assists
Granato putting everything down. No attack error so far.
Hot, thank you but you don’t need to do stats. If you notice, I had score and stats ahead of you.
UH up 8-4. TO UCD
Sorry about that Cindy. My page wasn’t updated yet when I clicked the Post button.
I love that Greeley is leading everyone in digs. On senior night, she had 14.

for those that interested in stats, above is link to live stats
Granato 9-0-3, makes it 15-7. TO UCI
Wahine are 11-0-19 in Set 2.
4 hitting errors came in Set 1, 3 by Maglio, 1 by Burns.
UH wins 25-11.
Wahine 16-0-26 in Set 2. Granato 10-0-14.
williams and Ross both got in.
Only Wahine not to get in so for Anderson and Howling
To be fair Most of those early sets to Maglio were so low (barely at net height)…she needs it higher.
Then she was a decoy for everyone else and saw only one attempt late in the set. That was her only pure hard swing.
UH up 7-4 on an ace by Guinasso. TO Aggies.
http://bigwest.sidearmstreaming.com/watch/?Live=399
another ace by na wahine gunner baby g!
Iosia’s ace makes it 13-5. TO Aggies.
may norene has her nasty serve back?
UH with the sweep 25-12
dominated.
Everyone got in eventually . Robin was sitting down after the first or 2nd set.
No hitting errors by Granato, Koelsch, Iosia, Williams and Howling.
Wahine 12-2-28 in Set 3, hitting errors by Castillo, netting on her follow through, then one by Ross late.
28. Ah Mow-Santos said she was happy about tonight’s performance and happy she could get everyone in. .
BTW she spells it Robyn.
The Big West TV streaming by UCD was very clear. The camera angle picked up the movement on the serves like on Guinasso’s. It looked like UCD’s MB spied Maglio so it opened things up for the pin hitters. Iosia looked like she was enjoying her swings. Isuppose you usually win if your hitting percentage is .402 for the match. And only 5 service errors.
It’s nice that the Wahine get a day off (travel day) before UCI unlike other BWC road trips. The additional day will make a difference in terms of mental refocus against another Saturday BWC opponent who has only one match this weekend.
30. Oh, right, Robyn.
Robyn thinking about sitting on the bench more ?
The first set didn’t look that easy up to 15-14.
The issue was never in doubt. At the UH timeout at 15-14 in the 1st set, Coach Robyn didn’t let them sit down. She had a couple of quick words with them and put them back on the court where they stood for a minute waiting for UC Davis. And Robyn sat down. Classic. My guess is she told them set the pins, their camping on the middles, and that was basically it. Match over.
I like the game adjustment. Nice article in today’s paper. Helped me understand what Robyn was doing with the 6-2. Wahine looked great.
Cindy, what did you think of the 6-2 with Iosia on the outside?
I remember Florida did the same set up with Murphy – back row setter, front row atracker.
31. today is a travel day with a flight so they don’t play same day. The other trips no flight, just a drive, so they can play same day.
Think Coach sat down more because they were doing what she wanted and she didn’t have to keep on them.
34. thank you. My rewrite of match.
35. About the 6-2. One of the reasons Ah Mow-Santos said was that she liked Ma’afala’s connection with the middles. Iosia is a good blocker so that was a plus. With Sibley not on the trip they were down an OH. Iosia as an attacker gave them a different look, she hits a heavy ball.
Hope no letdown for tomorrow’s night match. BIG GAME!! If the team wants that at-large bid, gotta take care of their business….
CL, any news on recruiting?
Regarding losing money on going to the WNIVC, the women’s basketball program went to the WNIT in 2013, 2014 and 2015. although this was before Matlin’s administration began. The women’s basketball program loses money, even without going to any post season.
So i am wondering if the women’s basketball or men’s basketball programs receive NIT bids, they would not be accepting ? The men’s basketball program has gone to the NIT in the past too.
Pairs
Kan Banz v Weaver Kidd
Forbes Ozee v Napoleon Zalapony
Monkhouse Homayun v Burkett Stevens
Interesting pairings guessing they just split them up evenly with a veteran and newcomer, otherwise we would see probably see zalopany/ozee/kan/homayun/weaver paired with each other since they are the returning experienced players.
Schucht Bunn
Huddleston Dreeuws
Fitterer Luyties
Martin sitting out?
37. no, early signing period is done
As I wrote last week, nothing until spring.
38. Men’s NIT totally different animal.
bottom line: UH has no interest in competing in the WNIVC this year.
