Hawaii 3, UCSB 0; Friday scores
In what appears to be a show of solidarity, the entire Wahine coaching all in same attire as Ah Mow-Santos
Williams not cleared to play, not sure if Burns will see action. Her right knee still in brace but she’s moving well in warmups.
Also Canadian flag up for the NBA games still up tonight

While I don’t care what RAMS wears so long as it meets UH’s dress code, this show of attire solidarity, if that is what it is, tells me the staff is letting itself become distracted with opinions that are irrelevant to the task at hand, winning volleyball matches.

na wahine should be able to shock cal poly tomorrow just like 4 years ago
Ruddins was dominant last year versus UH at Stan Sheriff. Really looking forward to seeing how UH handles her tonight.
2. what it tells me is that Ljungqvist has decided to dress the same as the rest of the staff. She’s the only one who hasn’t been wearing the Under Armor stuff.
It’s not the UH dress code. She’s under contract to wear the sponsor’s apparel.

Pretty much the same lineup. Howling, Koelsch, Granato, Iosia, Kahakai, Castillo, Maglio.
As for volunteer assistant Castello, don’t know. he’s been at practice the rest of the week.
5. You said it was an apparent show of solidarity, not me. That she is under contract to wear the sponsor’s apparel makes it the dress code.
Ruddins on serve. Granato blocked. it’s 6-3. TO UH
wahine better not be fooling around here like at riverside.
lets go bows!
Great dig by Kahakai, passes Kanani Danielson for No. 5. UH up 15-12. TO UCSB
Mags means business!
UCSB challenging a touch on the block. if call stands UH would be up 20-16. if not, it would be 19-17
UCLA finishes off ASU 3-1.
Utah-UW going 5
UH up 22-16. TO UCSB
UCSB waited way too long to call a timeout.
No one on the team can put the ball away except Ruddins, I would just camp out 2 blockers on her all night.
Not to bachi. but last UH service error had UCSB leading 10-7. that was their third SE
UH challenging that there was a touch on Koelsch’s attempt
UH lost that challenge but wins the set 25-20
UH doing a nice job on Ruddins. She’s not bombing a lot of balls like she did during last year’s match at Hawaii. But the night is young.
LIttle sloppy. UCSB goes up 10-7. TO UH
Utah def. Washington in Seattle 3-2
Two blocks by UH has helped them tie it at 11. TO UCSB
Complete Top 25
2) Stanford def. 18) Oregon, 25-19, 25-21, 25-23
3) Penn State def. Ohio State 23-25, 25-22, 22-25, 25-22, 15-4
10) Kentucky def. Alabama 25-15, 23-25, 25-21, 25-20
12) Creighton def. DePaul 25-10, 25-9, 25-13

Washington State def. 25) Colorado, 25-23, 25-19, 22-25, 30-28
Kahakai targeting Ruddins on serve .UH on a 7-0 run. it’s 14-11. TO UCSB
2 aces by Ruddins gives UCSB a 18-17 lead. TO UH
that was fun
UH holds off 3 set points. Kahakai serves it out 4-0. UH wins 26-24.
savannah kahakai..serve tricky ace..wins set from behind.
gotta love that!
kendra koelsch was also pivotal in that set win
Burns in for Howling
Kanoa Leahey just mentioned the solidarity in the coaching staff wearing the same thing as RAMS. Well, there you have it.
Iosia with an ace. It’s 10-4. TO UCSB
norene with her nasty serve will show ruddins what a jump serve is.
Granato ends it with her 18th kill. 25-11
UH did a great job Ruddins, who had her second worst kills, points, attempts, and hitting pct. of the year tonight.
Tomorrow night, battle for leadership of the Big West.

this has got to be interesting tomorrow night
Good to see Burns and Sibley play !
Ruddins had 3 aces and a good serve.
Emily Maglio needs to be involved offensively. I would like her to be set as much or more than our pin hitters. Allowing her to get more touches may allow our team to loosen up the pins and beat an excellent Cal Poly team. I just wanted to mention that Kendra is the really doing a very good job her senior year transforming from an OH from Setter. She IMO is the most inspirational player of the team always bringing energy in her game the past 3 seasons til now and she makes and has made everyone around her play better because of her positive attitude.
37. I agree regarding Koelsch. I’ve always loved what she brings to the floor and I love seeing her on the court this year. Of course, we can’t expect her to bring the same numbers as Nikki, but she’s been doing well and I hope she continues to get even better.
Good to see Burns play. Her big block will help tonight against a little taller hitters. Good for her to get some time in yesterday to shake off the cobwebs before tonight’s game.
Stellar blocking tonight by Maglio in particular. Granato came through as well. Set the repeat dial tonight.
Koelsch has been such a huge surprise this year for me. Usually super steady and brings a “calm” energy to the team. Ironically, her setting has been her biggest fault. Even when she doesn’t get called for a double, her sets don’t come out as nice as before. But she has definitely improved her game.
Granato has got to learn to keep her serve in! Serving is one area where a player has almost 100% control of the outcome. She is still learning to be a steady passer. She cannot have another area where she becomes weaker, or fans will be calling for her removal. Maybe she needs a serving sub instead of Maglio? As Granato goes, the team seems to go as well.
Kahakai has flashes of greatness and flashes of mediocrity. Hopefully she steadies out.
If there is one downside to this match, it’s their serving.
There is no excuse where a float server can’t get it in the court and against a good team like Cal Poly,
giving away freebies is not an option.
When Castillo rotates to the back court, Ross should be substituted for her.
Any reason Williams do not play??
#42 Kanoa said she got hit in the dome during practice. So probable concussion symptoms.
I”ve been noticing that Faith Maafala sets some really nice balls that our hitters are able to really put good solid swings on. I understand that she usually replaces Iosia in “garbage time” when the need to execute is not as critical but I think she should be seeing more playing time. Not saying she is better than Iosia but I sure like her sets and attitude. The change in setters can sometimes slowdown the opposing defensive players. JMHO. Go Wahines! Slam Cal Poly!!

42. we were told she wasn’t cleared to play but yes it was practice-related
