Kanoa Leahey to host Rolo show

Kanoa Leahey will be the co-host for the “Nick Rolovich Show” this fall, Hawaii News Now general manager Rick Blangiardi told the Warrior Beat.

Collin Harmon, who departed HNN after last night’s newscasts, was the co-host for the weekly coach’s show last year.

Leahey, who commutes between residences on Maui and in Honolulu, also serves as play-by-play announcer for UH and high school telecasts on the cable outlet now known as Spectrum.

The “Nick Rolovich Show” airs Sunday nights on KGMB and Monday evenings on KHNL during the football season.

ALOHA Mr. A-House & the GREAT Massau Boy !

Saw your post as I flipped for joy with a smile so wide that it lit up my entire office area. WONDERFUL hearing from you as it has been such a LONG time that we saw one another which coincidentally was the 1st Tsaiko Las Vegas Calf Call that unexpectedly we sat with one another while eating some super Hawaiian ono food while sharing my story of my UH playing days. From there we shared some priceless times along with meeting your lovely wife Mrs. A-House and your beautiful daughter Midori 7 !

Sir, I am there in Pasadena with my better half for UCLA and look forward seeing you as our last time together was back in 1999 when our dearly departed friend Las Vegas brought all of Tsaiko Nation together. Please e-mail me as I will hunt down Hawstlin for you as truly his presence alone will definitely make our reunion a fantastic time!

Just a PLEASURE hearing from you as I truly look forward seeing you at the UCLA game which ALL of Hawaii locals & mainland fans will be there !

    Luv Ya !

reading various posts about tailgating at Las Vegas brings back many happy memories of sitting with Ragsu Bagasu and his wife Kumi at dinners over the many years, he lighting up cattle calls/tailgates, and yet, sorrowful memory of his sudden passing

but, he, LTUH Fan, Florida Ted, Calvin from Kona, and Big Hilo can enjoy many years looking over us and UH football games

good health and much happiness — especially to those closest to us!!!!

UH Athletics’ Wahine and Warriors ranked 48th and 64th, respectively, in the Capital One Cup standings. What is the Capital One Cup? “Each year, programs earn Capital One Cup points based on teams’ top-10 finishes in NCAA Division I championships and in final official coaches’ polls across 21 women’s and 20 men’s sports as they compete to win the Capital One Cup trophy and a combined $400,000 in scholarships for student-athletes. Last year, the Capital One Cup was awarded to the Stanford University men’s athletics program and University of Southern California women’s athletics program. This is the seventh year of the Capital One Cup.” ref. Hawaiiathletics.com

To put into perspective UH’s rankings, consider there are 62 Power 5 schools (Pac12, Big10, SEC, ACC and Big 12). So the Wahine at 48th, falls well within the teams that comprise the Power 5. The men’s program is so close at 64th.

Congratulatios to the AD, staff, coaches and players.

    Aloha all,
Just dropping by to say howzit and hope everyone is doing well. GO WARRIORS!!! Blessings to all, and may we have a great season….. IMUA LANAKILA!!!

  8. A-House July 14, 2017 10:47 am

    H-Man:

thanks for the comparison — not bad at all!

is the basis the same sports for all schools?

reason is the MWC included bull-riding which UH does not have, but points earned were included to determine MWC ranking — conversely, UH has swimming & diving and sailing and water polo

  9. A-House July 14, 2017 10:49 am

Kanoa is slowly making his up the ladder to succeed grand-pa Chuck and dad Jim as a sports caster for UH sports.

    way – 2 – go!!!

will always remember the phrase, “one manapua” — distance between LOS and 1st down

Mr. A House I cannot say it any better then what you have written on the memorable calf calls we had in Las Vegas. Other names mentioning Garret Okamoto “the human sports wire”, Steve, Ronnie, Warriormojoe, Jessie James, Addaknowjoe aka “osmosis” Hawstlin, Pomai, Kekoa, beautiful Liz Kauai and the incomparable Mei Ling just comes to mind. As years keep going by we have this BOND that keeps us connected rather near or far which myself and Rich 2176 finds our self adhering to while reaching back to those names above for some most quality time spent along with sincere fellowship !

UCLA & Vegas will be the place to rekindle a long over due Calf Call that HOPEFULLY all who posts on the Tsai Meister blog from this day forth may join us when it is announced as you won’t be disappointed with a true atmosphere of LOYAL Hawaii fans who gather for a day of good food, drinks & conversation. All the best A-House as I look forward seeing you once again from our triumphant calf call at Hurrahs along with the Sugar Bowl which we were the “TOAST” of New Orleans !

  11. bowwar July 14, 2017 10:58 am

Wow, I didn’t know Colin Harmon left last night…They can’t seem to keep Sports Directors on HNN lately. Good to hear that Kanoa Leahey will be doing the Rolo Show…Go Warriors!

  12. A-House July 14, 2017 12:44 pm

    Rainbow Cliff:

you are absolutely correct in the unbreakable “bond” we have established over the years because of ST’s blog

I do not know how many Cali Tsaikos will attend — from Hawaii, it will be me, MasaBoy, and Mr/Mrs Kapahulu — hope there will others who will attend and introduce themselves

speaking of Orleans, what ever happened to the large TSAIKO sign that we used at Harrah’s Hotel and Casino – I brought it back and gave it to someone, don’t remember who.

and, poor Rich who came late with a “terrible hang-over”

and, I had triple serving of ” beignets ” at one sitting

and, I froze my “okole” in the constant 32 degree weather wearing bermuda shorts, light t-shirt, and a jacket which failed to keep the cold air out – mistake was I never thought the cold air would hang around so long

and, there was squiring Herman who decided to return almost 3/4s of the tickets allotted to UH because he thought fans would not go — let’s see, by last count there were between 23,000 to 25,000 UH fans

friends returning from Orleans say merchants still recall the UH fans who spent boku bucks and would welcome back UH and its fans over any other school

and, at West Point, our tour group bought out nearly all the souvenirs before the other Hawaii tour groups arrived — Panda Travel had 5 buses.

but, it was not the same at the Naval Academy — perhaps most of us spent our $$ in D.C.

    “any way”

  13. cappie the dog July 14, 2017 2:08 pm

I think Tai Webster is going to beat out Noah Allen for a roster spot.

    More athleticism.

  14. cappie the dog July 14, 2017 2:15 pm

Bryce Alford isn’t better than Allen; he just keeps jacking up a whole lot of shots. Alford spurned Noah twice.

  15. DaveLetterMan July 14, 2017 2:57 pm

    Howzit Tsaikos!
    From Brian McInnis:
Noah Allen got a start for Golden State’s summer squad today and put up 11 pts (3-6 FG, 2-4 3FG), 6 reb, 5 ast in 27 min of 109-100 W vs LAC

    RE: #10
A-House — this is who have said they are attending road games thus far:
    http://stevem.altervista.org/away17.html

Those attending games should note their hotel (especially in Vegas) along with ETD for postgame Cattle Call planning purposes.

Post here on the blog or email me.

UH at UCLA football game on Sept 9.

Come join our group of 300+ UH fans on the Hawaii side line in Sections 6H, 7H & 8L; 12-19 rows up around the 5 to 20 yard line. these sections are closer to the field as this stadium curves in & this is where visiting fans sit. This stadium has 77+ rows so this are great seats closer to the field. let me know if you want these tix as I had to pay for these upfront. Text me at 415-324-0585. Prices are $69 or $89 (Sect 6H). These seats have backs (not benches).

  19. tom-WarriorNation July 14, 2017 11:11 pm

This is the famous Rose Bowl stadium in Pasadena, CA.
There is also a big Hawaii tailgate planned for this game; come support our boys as they battle a good Pac-12 team!
