Iosia named to Junior National Team

University of Hawaiii incoming sophomore setter Norene Iosia has been named to the U.S. Women’s Junior National team that will compete at the FIVB Women’s U20 World Championship that begins this week in Mexico.

Iosia, an all-Big West first team selection last season, is one of two setters named to the 12-member team and was selected from the 16 players who have been training the past 10 days at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo.

The other setter is Michigan’s MacKenzi Welsh.


Play begins Friday and runs through July 23 in Boca del Rio and Cordoba, Mexico.

    Well deserved. Represent!
    It will be pure joy watching her develope in the next three years under the tutelage of Hawaii’s finest female setter. Definitely a future Olympian.

    1. one never knows about the Olympic team but Iosia did say after that first practice with Ah Mow-Santos that her mindset had changed. More that Ah Mow-Santos never takes a play off.
