Warriors add kicker/punter

In a three-for-one deal, the Warriors have added multi-purpose Michael Boyle of Camas (Wash.) High. Here are the details:

> Filling the void: Rigo Sanchez, who handled point-scoring kicks, kickoffs and punts last year, is now with the Indianapolis Colts. Boyle is experience in all three disciplines. Alex Trifonovitch, who was recruited as a sophomore two years ago, was the kicker during spring training. Trifonovitch also took some turns on kickoffs. Stan Gaudion was the spring punter.

> Cross shots: More than 80 percent of Boyle’s kickoffs resulted in touchback. Boyle was instructed to directionally kick to the left side. That was a tactic the Warriors favored last year under special teams coordinator Mayur Chaudhari.

> Kick start: Boyle has been kicking most of his life — first in soccer at age 4 and then in football when he was 9.

> Over-achiever: As a sophomore, Boyle created an app for a school project. While he has an interest in engineering, he was fascinated by UH’s computer-science program. Boyle has earned straight A’s, except for an A-minus for a freshman English class.
