Glad that upgrades are being made but I would have preferred Ben Jay’s vision of knocking down Klum and rebuilding a newer more modern “training center” where both basketball and volleyball could train and use as a recruiting tool.

Klum is really an eyesore and should be torn down immediately. Driving by there on the way to the parking structure, I cringe every time I see that place. That place should be condemned. That being said, I’m glad the players will have a nice place to practice. The kids deserve that much.

    1.

I agree that training facility idea was really good but I think the practice gyms are more of a priority. Especially when they say they have a moisture problem on the courts which makes them sometime unsafe for use.

When they say football video pads they mean a more permanent tower to shoot the videos from? I think they use a lift now right?

Andrew….good point. I believe the training center BJ envisioned would include a court or two for basketball/volleyball but I understand the need to refurbish the gyms.
UH currently only have one weight room for all athletes to work out. Imagine the headaches in trying to accommodate all the athletes. A TC will ease that headache and make it easier for all.
I still hope that the TC will still be in the future. I believe something like this can be a HUGE benefit…..in making our athletes more competitive and having a nice facility to show prospects.

Why is so much money being spent on woman’s softball? they don’t charge admission so present facility should be adequate. sounds like over $6 million will eventually go into this stadium. Can’t we spend same dollars instead on facilities that will benefit more sports or revenue sports which the UH needs to be successful.

    5. Horrible hope they catch the crook.

Looks like Colton and Rosy who are seeded 10th, won their first match beating the 3rd seed.
Seeds seemed a little off though.
They play another match later today against the 2nd Seed Friedman/Stadick from UCI.

  6. warriorfan May 11, 2017 1:36 pm

Looks like Colton/Rosy beat Friedman/Stadick in 2 sets and now are leading their pool with 4 points.

Colton/Rosy seeded 10th out of 11 pairs beat the 3rd and 4th seeded pairs today not bad at all ,hope they keep that up tomorrow.

conner, you raise a good question regarding the RWSS. $3.5 million is a lot of money. I too wonder what improvements or repairs are urgently needed for the RWSS? Wasn’t it last year that the lighting was improved for night games and a new scoreboard installed? The field looks okay and the bleachers are okay. Maybe not too comfortable, but no worse than the bench seating I sat on at the Coliseum for the USC game.

Allyssah Fitterer from Michigan St. will be going to grad school at UH and playing for the wahine beach team next season.

Colton & Rosey won their pool and now face Dominguez & Hoffman from UCIrvine.

Hoping some of the funds for the RWSS are for the restrooms. They’ve been in terrible shape for a really long time.

too bad USA volleyball isn’t streaming this even ( or are they?) I’d love to see Colton/Rosey’s quarterfinal match against UCI.

Alyssa Fitterer sounds like a great addition for the sand bows. She’s 6’2 and great all around, will she have two years like Carly Kan?

Also hope Coach Hall picks up CrissyJones or Scambray from UW or Adora Anae also , UH should be title favorites with UCLA who got Sarah Sponcil.

    11. the mens rooms around the SSC could use some sprucing up also.

  13. livealoha May 12, 2017 12:34 pm

Fitterer, Monkhouse and Maglio. Looks like we will have the Canadian connection on the Beach too.

  14. vballfreak808 May 12, 2017 12:53 pm

    12. She has already played four years collegiately so she will only have one season as a graduate season.

  15. vballfreak808 May 12, 2017 1:22 pm

USA Volleyball is streaming the men’s quarterfinals live on their Facebook page now. Cowell/Rosenmeier playing

  16. warriorfan May 12, 2017 1:44 pm

12.Plus Jenna Banz is Canadian also.

Looks like Colton/Rosie won in two sets, they are both really good. I think USA volleyball seriously underestimated them.Brett is one of the best all around players for his age and Colton was the best beach player coming out of Hawaii two years ago.
    Hope they win this tomorrow.
