Yep, they did it.
Eight Warriors are set to earn UH degrees this Saturday.
Because of the large number of graduates, there will be two ceremonies. If they choose to walk, this is the schedule for the eight:
Morning ceremony (9 a.m.)
> Isaiah Bernard, wideout, sociology
> Makoa Camanse-Stevens, receiver, political science
> Jeremy Castro, linebacker, sociology
> Davasyia Hagger, tight end, economics
> Andrew Ho, tight end, history (second degree)
> RJ Hollis, offensive tackle, economics
Afternoon ceremony (4 p.m.)
> Steven Lakalaka, running back, kinesiology/rehabilitation sciences
> Brodie Nakama, snapper, kinesiology/rehabilitation sciences

Waiting patiently for Rolo to move along so we can have a real coach again at the UH.
The doubleheader ceremonies are essential — some parents got locked out of last year’s record ceremony — but it sure messes up our semiannual group photo.

Congratulations to all the graduates and a special shout out to my son Andrew Ho. He lived his childhood dream of putting on the Warrior uniform and becoming a player for UH. He even went back to school for his second degree to play wear the uniform for another year.
sfogate – congrats to your son. He’s the kind of kid we want to be at UH.
ST – the MVB seniors will also be split up – Mol (physics) & McKellar (econ) in the morning, Fey (engineering) & Franciskovic (business) in the afternoon. It’ll be a long day for the coaches and parents.

It was really sad last May. There were people crying because they weren’t allowed in to see their kids graduate.

I sent your son a video clip of when he received his first degree.
He’s a good guy. He worked hard, was a good teammate, and never got in trouble.
It’s a shame he didn’t play more because he has really good hands.
But, alas, it is a numbers game. The main thing is he got two degrees and fulfilling college experience.
UH owes gratitude to the volleyball Warriors.
Because they only can offer the equivalent of 4.5 scholarships, their players contributed more than $300,000 in tuition, school fees and expenses this past year.
When state lawmakers are sitting around not figuring out a way to address housing, traffic and the rail, they should consider that by significantly decreasing funding to UH, many, many of our island kids will be saddled with college debt for years and years.
The most sensible thing to do is to allow men’s volleyball to have more scholarships.
I don’t know what that number is but 4.5 is much too low. Same for baseball. Is it because of gender equity laws?
ST: Thank you. Andrew was in the right place, just at the wrong time. We are all sorry that he received zero on-the-field playing time, he enjoyed his time being a member of the team. We will be watching future games and cheering for the Warriors.
Derek – #9 – yup. I believe baseball and softball are allowed the same # of scholarships. At least MVB gets scholarships, others, like swimming/diving, don’t.

Men’s Swimming and diving gets 9.9 scholarships.
