Receiver on a comeback route

Wider receiver Don’yeh Patterson has been training at UH, and is expected to rejoin the Warriors.

At the recommendation of former NFL standout Keyshawn Johnson, Patterson initially signed with the Warriors on Feb. 5, 2014.

He redshirted as a freshman in 2014, then left the team in the spring semester.

He has three years to play three seasons.

Larry Tuileta is attending a community college in pursuit of an associate degree, a requirement for transferring to UH.

Perfect timing! My football season tickets were renewed yesterday, also contributed $$’s to the H-Club, ensuring a better position for obtaining a coveted inner-circle parking pass next month.

    Good news about Patterson.

Good luck to Vasquez Haynes. NCAA… tsigh.

Is Tuileta going to playing Volleyball and Football here?

  8. NorthShoreFan March 28, 2016 11:15 am

    Guud Morning Tsaikos…Bootiful Day!
Don’t want to get started on the NCAA….me thinks they should have an investigation on the inequities of this mafia organization…talk about “pay to play”.

    Anyhoo, IMUA WARRIORS!

hope the captain is feeling better and getting healthier!

Anyone get the feeling that Syracuse’s winning should help UH’s basketball appeal? All the Orange “suffered”‘was Boeheim’s 9-game suspension.

  10. H-Man March 28, 2016 1:09 pm

Good news that Don’yeh Patterson has decided to rejoin the Warriors. Wasn’t he the best recruit of the 2014 class? And since there is silence regarding Zach Wilson, I am guessing he may not have qualified for admission (yet).

  11. 3-Prong March 28, 2016 1:25 pm

ST: Didn’t Syracuse self impose post season ban last year and didn’t they give up a bunch of scholarships for multiple years?

  12. Jeezy33 March 28, 2016 1:36 pm

    10. Not even close to true.. He had no offers going into signing day and was offered by Hawaii on signing day when a scholarship was available. He signed before taking a visit. He’s a depth player.

  13. kapakahi March 28, 2016 2:07 pm

    #10,

    “He” is Patterson right?

  14. kapakahi March 28, 2016 2:11 pm

    Meant #12…..not #10.

  15. jeezy33 March 28, 2016 2:24 pm

    13. Yes. You’re highest rated recruit is never the 25th slot in your recruiting class. Especially when you didn’t bring him on a OV during the weeks you are allowed to bring in recruits for a visit.

  16. AllG March 28, 2016 2:37 pm

    Thanks for updates ST!

  17. AllG March 28, 2016 2:41 pm

Patterson is a nice surprise. We seem a little thin on the outside and could use the depth. I think we should be loaded at slot especially if Stubblefield moves in. We should go back to the 4 wide as our base offense but also mixing in the TE in different packages.

    politics, but related to football

very disappointed by the spokes person for the Democratic party interviewed on KITV – all he did was make excuses why things were so messed up on Saturday

he should have just said, “yes, we screwed up big time” by not setting a closing time for all voting places state wide, yes we were poorly organized by not having more people telling/directing voters into the correct line – one for registered members and another for new members – and a point person to tell everyone how the voting will take place since many came early and later arrivals should have been pointed into a separate line(s).

worst excuse was last election cycle only a few turned out! hell, they knew
that many people would turn out based on many comments in the paper or on TV or radio.

Castle HS like the rest was a mess – must have had nearly 300 hundred people ahead of us and others kept arriving – even as we were leaving nearly an hour later.

I do hope Gov Ige will stop accepting “free” tickets to games if he will make no attempt to communicate with UH that he is open to changing the “autonomous” status – not fully, but partial to accommodate athletics at UH Manoa who is stuck with the “travel expenses”

yet, all of this would be mute if UH was accepted into the PAC 12. brings me to another point — since all TV revenue is tied into athletics will all $$ be kept by the athletic department? how do the Power 5 schools do it? does not hurt to be prepared with a action plan.

How come rail pieces look crooked?

    Just wondering.

    Good luck to Haynes.

  20. z March 28, 2016 3:13 pm

    9. I was listening to the radio this morning while looking at crooked rail pieces and they said something about North Carolina having classes that the athletes did not have to attend. Or something like that. I was too busy sitting in car looking up at the crooked rail pieces.

Syracuse self-imposed a ban in Feb of 2015 for the 2015 postseason, so their one senior with a lot of minutes at that time had no chance to transfer and their juniors at the time could play in this 2016 postseason. They are losing two scholarships per year for four years.

  22. Stephen Tsai March 28, 2016 5:33 pm

    Islandman
    Thanks.
    UH is screwed.

#12 Actually Don’yeh had six other offers prior to LOI day according to ESPN and Rivals … including Arizona, Colorado State and Utah. In addition, he was rated in the top 100 California football prospects by Rivals. I’m not sure he was our top recruit but from what I remember correctly he might have waited too long and some spots disappeared as others committed. Additional source is “Rankedbyoffers” website.

Stephen and others … Rob DeMello had a sports newscast short piece just awhile ago on Stephen and his surgery and recovery. Showed how serious it was and a humorous part about a goodbye letter, in case, to his wife. Stephen take it easy with your job.

  26. Jeezy33 March 28, 2016 7:50 pm

    23. No he didn’t. Or he would have signed with one of them. Recruiting sites posting scholarship offers are not as accurate as you think. Offers expire, get removed, and sites don’t update that. Hawaii could offer a kid tomorrow, and move on fro, that offer a month from now. Keyshawn Johnson would not have to call Norm Chow if Donyeh had schools to choose from prior to signing day
