Seemed like we played USC (Sand) much better than earlier in the week , Tuesday (4-1) today (3-2)
Back to last night’s Springs Game my observation is : I like what I saw. My lineup would be definitely Nikki Taylor, Emily Maglio, Casey Castillo, Kalei Greenly(if 100%), Savanah Kahakai. Right now I guess it’s Higs but not convinced. Her game and setting should be nearing flawless starting 2 years. I still like Kendra Koelsch because of her presence, blocking, and hitting prowess. We have to see if the incoming Freshman ALL American setter will be ready to play in Prime Time and compete right away. Guess we have to wait til August. Granato has passion and hits a hard ball but she lacks height and has a hard time going over the block (she is not 6’0″ tall but more like 5’10”). She could be a great backrow sub and play front if we play shorter teams. The more we have players that can go over the blocks and provide blocking defense, then we will have a legitimate chance to get to the Final 4 and possibly win it… Height today is a liability unless your a super athlete than can jump over 6’1-6’4 O/H…..Just got to be real about it! and honest opinion.
Overall the whole team with the 3 amigo’s defensive specialist is seasoned. Burns still unproven but probably just needs more court time…My prediction Big West Champions 2016….Final 4 participant this year!!!

Emily and Nikki must be exhausted. Great switch by Coach Hall. 1’s and 2’s.

Cindy, how many scholarships does the sand team have?

B.C. You did not mention Annie Mitchum who could be the star of this very talented team. And just because Casey looks like she is having fun out there doesn’t mean she is not intense and focused on getting better. You can tell that she is a “team” player. My respect for Granado has grown but she is more valuable as a role player than a starter. I still wish Huff was playing volleyball but it is time to move on and cheer for her as the star basketball player she is. We also have two recruits who could change the dynamics of the team this year. I am already excited, only 5 months to go!

Seems like from last season that coach has Granato pencils in to start this year.
