Well Stijn is Human, he made a few errors late in that third set, but hope he can keep up this torrid pace for the rest of the season, he could be something special.

Just wondering from Tiff’s tweet, referencing Coach Rolovich, does it mean the warrior volleyball team got a commitment from a Swedish player?

Stijn is going to be a monster Opp but right now he’s still a freshman. Hawaii’s success this year is going to depend on whether their middles can get on track especially offensively. Tonight for the first 2 two sets the middles were a non-factor. After awhile it looked like Jennings gave up/avoided setting the middles until the third set.

While the middles get on track, Siki and Kupono will need to adjust to seeing better formed blocks more often. Right now neither look as sharp as they were last season.

Stijn is the real deal. Wow. Hits with authority is an understatement. Defenders might need to think about getting helmets. Still a freshman though, needs to recognize when the block is formed. His blocking needed work, not well timed, not pressed over. Needs to stay out of the net. His float serve reminds me of Davis Holt’s serve. Oddly effective sometimes but just as often a cupcake. Expect over time he’ll work in a jump serve. His backrow defense looks promising but needs work. Overall though, looks great out there and with even more upside to come. Should have an exceptional freshman year.

Overall, nice team outing against Harvard but with lots of things to clean up. Too many service errors. Too much confusion on defense with too many tips and diggable balls finding the floor, too much ineffective transition offense, and too many net calls. Not enough setting of the middles and bics, especially early on, made the offense through the pins all too predictable for Harvard blockers. All the above kept Harvard in the game, in what could have been a blow out.

Agreed, a work in progress, but looks very promising. Lewis should be a good test. Looking forward to Sunday’s match.

Hi Cindy. Nice article on the Beach Bows.

Hasn’t Tai played for them the first season? The article references her as a first year player.

Mahalo, Noblesol #17, for the detailed recap!

And thanks for the info on Cia Goods. She was always one of my favorites and have been wondering how she has been since being diagnosed with cancer.

  21. warriorfan January 9, 2016 8:12 pm

Tomorrow’s match against Lewis is really important even though it’s early.
I think Lewis can win the MIVA conference so a win over them would be huge for RPI and a possible ncaa at large bid.

The fact that it wasn’t streamed hurts, since there were likely a lot of people not able to make the first two nights to see both teams. But any predictions from those who have seen both teams?

  23. Cindy Luis January 10, 2016 3:52 pm

    13. His first error was in Set 1 when he stepped over the 3-meter line, he had another in Set 1, the other 2 were late.

    15. no, it was an homage to Rolo taking his recruits fishing. was whatTiff had for a snack.

    18. thanks. Wrote it last Tuesday Never know when things will run.

you are right that Manu-Olevao played as a freshman. Went 10-13. they only had 2 home dates and I didn’t remember that she had played. my bad.

  24. Cindy Luis January 10, 2016 3:54 pm

    21. don’t know if they’ll win it. Lewis coach said Ohio State was the favorite, that Loyola is rebuilding with a new coach. He also said that had they lost to Harvard Thursday it would have been a really bad loss.
