Wow with two top ten teams losing. Florida and Illinois the Wahine got to be at least 8th in the next poll

  2. warriorfan September 30, 2015 4:48 pm

I am prepared to be disappointed when the rpi rankings come out.

  3. Maverick September 30, 2015 4:49 pm

Florida losing again really hurts UH’s argument for a seed. Still a lot of games yet to play but it is starting to look like UH’s win over Florida is not as special as I had hoped. Focus on continuing to win is paramount.

  4. warriorfan September 30, 2015 4:56 pm

The way Stanford looks, I wouldn’t mind the wahine getting sent there, that is if Stanford even gets a seed.

  5. H-Man September 30, 2015 4:57 pm

    1,2 & 3 cover it all, but I lean to #2.

  6. surfboy September 30, 2015 5:02 pm

and #14 Arizona is just annihilated #8 Stanford in set 1….Stanford is overrated

  7. haleiwacrossfitter September 30, 2015 5:24 pm

Oh Carly Kan….please come home for your senior year! What a special player she is.

  8. haleiwacrossfitter September 30, 2015 5:28 pm

I wouldn’t say Stanford is overrated, if Inky was healthy they would be in the top 5 easily. Losing Inky was huge for them and they are slowly showing how much losing her is effecting them. They are still good, top 10 good, maybe not. But they will be a team to be reckoned with come post season. They are adjusting to life without Inky.

I would like our chances against them in the post season though. Washington as well. I like our chances against any PAC12 team on the road, so even if we don’t host, I’m really optimistic that we are going to get through the 2nd round this year.

  9. warriorfan September 30, 2015 5:34 pm

She’s okay. I’d take Anae and Mau over her though.

  10. Ron September 30, 2015 5:49 pm

I just hope we don’t get in the same bracket as USC. They are for real. Other wise I agree with crossfitter about the rest of the PAC 12. First, though, we need to stay undefeated before we worry about the tournament.

  11. Cubicle1126 September 30, 2015 5:51 pm

looks like the luster has come off the florida win … now that florida has taken a couple lumps from kentucky and missouri in the sec.

to add to the stanford discussion too — it sounds like burgess may be playing with an injury as well (shoulder), in addition to losing inky for the year. this is not that season that that senior class was envisioning on having.

still though, plenty of volleyball left. florida and stanford will recover.

  12. Cindy Luis September 30, 2015 5:52 pm

agree Stanford isn’t over-rated They are injured.
Kan’s not transfering. Neither is Anae or Mau, all of whom wanted to go away.
Why can’t people be happy with the players on a 12-1 team.

  13. haleiwacrossfitter September 30, 2015 5:57 pm

Cindy, you read too much into comments sometimes. I’m not stating displeasure in anyone. Just would love to see Carly come home. Even though she isn’t, it’s just a wishful comment that is basically commending her and dominance in the SEC. That is all there is to it.

  14. wow September 30, 2015 5:57 pm

People are what they are, some are just whiners ….

  15. Cindy Luis September 30, 2015 5:59 pm

Perhaps I read more into things. But hard not to when there have been so many “Oh I wish so and so had stayed home.’ Agree their successes should be celebrated.

  16. jmy September 30, 2015 6:02 pm

Wow! That Florida score really surprises me…Missouri had not played a ranked team and in fact got their first loss to St. Louis over the weekend…I though the Gators would cruise…

  17. Cindy Luis September 30, 2015 6:04 pm

Fullerton on verge of first win of the season up 2-1. Although UCI with first set point at 25-24 in Set 4

  18. Cindy Luis September 30, 2015 6:05 pm

    Oops. going five. UCI-Fullerton

  19. haleiwacrossfitter September 30, 2015 6:09 pm

And Kalei Mau…she kind of came out of nowhere. I know she was good in high school here in Hawaii, but not really a highly recruited player. But for her to be absolutely unheard of the last two seasons to come in to a possible All American, PAC12 first team at least, season is unreal. That girl has put in some work to get where she is. I’m impressed.

Reminds me a little of Hewitt, where she was not highly recruited and had a so so freshman season and just busted out into All American her soph year.

Just shows what hard work and a little bit of confidence can do to a player.

  20. haleiwacrossfitter September 30, 2015 6:28 pm

Kalei is looking unstoppable against Stanford

  21. warriorfan September 30, 2015 6:43 pm

I’m pretty sure I just saw former warrior basketball player Brandon Jawato in the stands at the Arizona/Stanford match.

  22. Cindy Luis September 30, 2015 6:46 pm

    9) Florida lost to Missouri 25-22, 25-20, 21-25, 19-25, 10-15
    16) Minnesota def. Northwestern 25-16, 25-23, 25-21

  23. Cindy Luis September 30, 2015 6:59 pm

    No. 8 Stanford pulls it out, 15-25, 25-15, 21-25, 25-23, 17-15, over No. 14 Arizona
    Mau 23-8-70 11 digs
    Snuka 5-3-13, 16 digs

  24. Maverick September 30, 2015 7:00 pm

    Stanford wins in five.

  25. warriorfan September 30, 2015 7:02 pm

So close. was rooting for Arizona to finally beat the cardinal. I think it’s been close to a decade that they haven’t beaten them since Kim Glass days.

  26. H-Man September 30, 2015 7:04 pm

Mau had the kills, but Snuka is the engine that makes Arizona go. She had a great match. Too bad they lost.

  27. jmy September 30, 2015 7:14 pm

Maybe the Cardinal is starting to get it together…

  28. surfboy September 30, 2015 7:16 pm

Arizona had it in the bag and should have won IMO (Overrated) Stanford. Arizona’s Libeiro some work passes were behind the ten foot line. But what a game by Mau. As Cindy said those hawaii players wanted to go away but dang if Mau,Kan,Anae,Snuka, or even Robins-Hardy stayed home—oh the imagination!

  29. warriorfan September 30, 2015 7:19 pm

I like Snuka , she’s a dynamo in the backrow, but she does not set her middles at all. I think Arizona would have won this in 4 if she set her middles some.

  30. warriorfan September 30, 2015 7:19 pm

    27. Wouldn’t be surprised if ASU beats them Friday.

  31. rapid September 30, 2015 7:44 pm

    14. agreed, what whiners.

florida lost? no surprise there. told you sec are weaklings. hell lets call them bottom feeders while were at it shall we?

  32. darkfire September 30, 2015 8:12 pm

Hi Cindy, any progress report on Burns? Much mahalos for all you do! GO BOWS on the ROAD!

  33. darkfire September 30, 2015 8:13 pm

Anyone know how to record ESPN3 to your PC to watch later on?

  34. warriorfan September 30, 2015 8:24 pm

Theres no need to record, espn3 archives all the matches in replay right away and available for a week.

  35. Big Island VB fan September 30, 2015 8:54 pm

    33. Here is the website of espn3 NCAA women’s volleyball archives:
    http://espn.go.com/watchespn/index/_/sport/volleyball/league/NCAA+Women%27s+Volleyball/search/volleyball/type/replay/

You can get replays for up to 30 days.

  36. haleiwacrossfitter September 30, 2015 10:17 pm

Some people need to stop using different user ids just so they can validate their own comments. pretty obvious

  37. Cindy Luis September 30, 2015 10:55 pm

    32. didn’t see Burns at practice today. but they were keeping it short in Gym 1 before heading out.
nothing official but I can’t see them burning a redshirt year. If Mitchem can’t break in as a middle, then Burns certainly won’t.

  38. Cindy Luis September 30, 2015 11:02 pm

    36. at least on this thread people aren’t changing user names.

  39. Hot September 30, 2015 11:25 pm

    36. Agree. And that one poster who claimed he never goes on VT was just there whining that Cindy locked down the blog.

  40. Russ October 1, 2015 1:08 am

Agree Cindy. Very tiring to hear the “Oh I wish so and so had stayed home.’ comments from the same people. Again and again. Also tiring for me to hear “I wish so and so plays more’ repeated from the same people. Emily Maglio has developed into a much improved player because she has gotten the proper playing time. Great job by Coach Shoji and the staff. The constant and repeated second guessing by the same posters is a pain.

  41. H-Man October 1, 2015 5:43 am

Arizona has Mau and Snuka, and Stanford has Lutz and Bugg. I think its pretty equal and the match reflected it.

  42. Raider Dogs October 1, 2015 5:58 am

Cindy on your Top 25 scores you have Illinois as No #11 but they are #7. UCLA is #11 but they will probably be there next week. Wisconsin looked really good.

  43. darkfire October 1, 2015 7:01 am

34.35. Thanks for the update! Can’t wait to see what the girls can do this weekend!

  44. LanaiBoy October 1, 2015 7:51 am

I don’t know how true this is but the Pac 12 Network announcers kept saying that Kalei Mau was mostly a bench warmer in her first two years of college volleyball with a surprise breakout this year. Looked at her resume; transferred from Minnesota and seemed like she had some playing time with Arizona as a sophomore but her statistics weren’t that impressive. It does seem she blossomed late a la Britanny Hewitt. As I said before, Hawaii should be proud that there are four possible Hawaii-born All-Americans this year in Nikki Taylor, Carly Kan, Kalei Mau, Adora Anae. By the way Penina Snuka looked like an All-American libero in the Stanford match. She made some incredible, acrobatic digs in the back row.

  45. Bleachercoach October 1, 2015 9:31 am

It is just amazing how many great talent from Hawaii that is taking center stage and contributing big time in their respective teams and conferences. If we had TMO, Taylor, Kan, and Mau from Hawaii on the same team who would be the backups at OH. Great question huh? I know who my starters would be….who would be yours?

  46. Bleachercoach October 1, 2015 9:34 am

That at OH, how about setting with Higgins, Snuka, and Loxley Keala? Just a thought?
We have so much talent here…All we really would need is the BIG Middles from the mainland since we grow them short here in Hawaii nei

  47. Cindy Luis October 1, 2015 10:08 am

    39. thanks. I’ll have to look since I am not a frequent visitor to VT. Did I lock down the blog? I did close it recently when putting up a new thread. There were a few hours when the new link didn’t show up so apologies for that.
And sometimes our blogs are offline for maintenance of which I have no control.

    42. thanks. just a typo.

  48. Cindy Luis October 1, 2015 10:22 am

    44. Looked up Mau’s bio as well. didn’t get much playing time at Minnesota, more after transferring to Arizona. Played in 48 of the 119 sets last season. If you remember, Kingdon was their big gun last year.

    http://hawaiiwarriorworld.com/?p=33516
    new thread up for Thursday
