Warriors: Day after
The day after began at 4:30 this morning when head coach Norm Chow walked into his office after a three-hour sleep.
There were videos to watch, itineraries to script, and players to monitor.
“It’s still a school day,” Chow said. “They have to go to school.”
But Chow still had time to reflect in the 28-20 victory over Colorado.
“We’re 1-0,” Chow said. “What else can you ask for?”
Of note:
> Two-point call: In crafting the game plan, Chow told offensive coordinator to be aggressive early, to go for two points if the Warriors scored a touchdown first. The Warriors had practiced red-zone drills all preseason.
“We knew we were going to score first,” wideout Marcus Kemp said. “We were planning for two (points) the whole week.”
Bailey said: “We want to approach everything that way. Get the defense on their heels. And what do have to lose?”
The two-pointer gave the Warriors a cushion and changed the Colorado’s strategy the rest of the game.
> Three-point call: With a 15-14 lead in the closing seconds of the first half, the Warriors advanced to the 11. Max Wittek threw incomplete twice into the end zone. On third down, the Warriors called for Wittek to run to the middle of the field, signal a timeout, and summon placekicker Rigo Sanchez. The field goal made it 18-14 at the intermission, with the Warriors scheduled to receive the second-half kickoff.
“I think points are valuable,” Bailey said. “At 7 seconds, it could run out if the quarterback scrambles. That’s always a thing in the back of your mind. We would have liked to have taken a shot, but at 7 seconds, that’s right at the barrier of: Will it run out or not? We wanted to get points.”
> Last stand: The Buffaloes drove down the field, but after a completion to the 6 and with no timeouts, they could not align in time to get another snap.
Of that last drive, defensive coordinator Tom Mason said: “I told the kids it’s going to come down to the last series. We’ve got a Pac-12 team in here. They weren’t going to lay down. They were going to fight. They’re going down the field, and (we did) what we’re supposed to do: Make that play. Sometimes you do, sometimes you don’t. But don’t be afraid.”
First?
Love the intensity, pride and swagger the Warriors played with last night. To be sure, they have lots of work ahead, but with these players and these coaches, I think they’ll get better each week.
Now comes the crucible, starting with the next game.

#231, that interception that came from the bounce off of the TE was Moleni and Unga unless we’re talking about a different play.
I was thinking about that last play of the game. Time ran out because the ref who threw the ball to be spotted hit a UH player and a few seconds were lost. I guess there is no rule for that situation to add time to the clock because of the refs error. If it were home officials involved it could be easy to throw the game in that situation. lol. Anyway, lucky for UH and a great, great win.

Congrats to Hawaii’s team on the win! Always a nice way to start the season.
Anyone know why Ewaliko isn’t being played more? Last year the “reason” was did not know the routes. How about this year? Really hope he is added into the mix more.

I’m worried about Hawaii’s kick-off return defense. When it was returned, it went for big yardage. The muffed punt returns are also a big concern. Even thought we blocked that punt, I still say we lost the special teams battles.
Still a little to conservative on offense. There were a few 3 and outs due to running on 1st and 2nd downs and having to pass on 3rd downs. Almost every time we ran the ball on 1st and 2nd down we had to punt. All in all, not a good offensive game plan.

Some surprises for me.
1. Rasmussen. He has talent. Thought he looked better than Penitoto.
2. Meffy has a chance to be really really good in the future and didn’t really here his name mentioned much in camp. Once he puts on more muscle, watch out. He absolutely ran over. Colorado Olineman early in game to cause a big play for us.
3. Bernard. Would never guess he contribute this early after arriving so late. I was wrong on him.
4. Kemp added strength. Completely different player this year.
5. Our kicker/punter. Damn was he good and I didn’t expect much from our ST
Good win for the Bows. Although I’m not going to sugar coat too much, because let’s face it, Colorado stinks and will probably finish last in the Pac 12. MacIntyre may need to be searching for a new job next season. There’s expectations on him to show progress after two rebuilding years and losing to UH (a team CU faithful were counting as a win) isn’t going to help his chances at CU.
I like the coaches attitude about being aggressive and not having anything to lose.
I am pleasantly surprised by Rigo Sanchez. He was great. Hopefully he can be a consistent source of FGs when asked. Special teams in general was very good last night, and was a big factor in the win.
In terms of big picture, last nights win, in my opinion, was critical for UH’s hopes for a bowl game this season. It’s still a long shot, but in my mind, we were probably eliminated from the bowl if UH lost, given the schedule. I hate saying this after 1 game, but it’s probably true this year.
The pass defense looked much better that last season. Fewer big mistakes, but overall plenty of little things to clean up… which is expected after week 1. The good news is that UH’s D did not have any noticeable major coverage breakdowns. Last year, the secondary would have 3-4 major mistakes every game, which would lead to at least 2 huge plays or critical long yardage 3rd down conversions if the opponent connected.
What worries me is the conditioning of the defense. The lack of depth on the DLine is already showing week 1, which does not bode well considering UH will be entering a murderer’s row of top notch opponents where they will be out sized and will be facing teams with depth to keep fresh bodies coming at them.
I know its early in the season, but I already see UH’s games becoming high scoring track meets once the 2nd half of the season comes and UH is forced to dig deep in the depth chart and play guys out of position.
Again, its only week 1, and UH won. That’s the most important thing. Now it’s survival mode.
MIA: Trayvon Henderson & Jeremy Castro. Anyone know if they got any action?
11. Castro played a lot.
12, I must have missed that, didn’t hear his name called at all. I noticed Fonua in the game toward the end. Gener may have an injury again. They should move Castro to a middle backer, he has the size to handle it.
Kemp’s potential is there and he did some good things. His “hands-of-stone” showed up a few times last night but overall I think he will contribute a lot this season.
What a gut wrenching win last night. Can’t remember the last time we started the season 1-0.
13. Castro actually did not bad. Hope Gener is ok. Fonua is fine vs run. Liability in coverage or chasing down fast qbs.

I think the mental errors will get addressed by the coaches, unfortunately Ohio will not be as forgiving as Colorado.
Still, it was good to see the team with smiles at the end.

Wowza, and I thought UH had issues…
Some positives from last night’s win
1.Defense Bent but didn’t break they did a great job of forcing a couple turnovers to give the offense a few extra possessions
2.Special Teams was pretty special last night for some reason I feel at ease with our new kicker,Paul Harris is gonna bring a couple to the house this season he is definitely as advertised
3.Marcus Kemp is beginning to remind me of Trevor Davis a little bit not as fast maybe but definitely has another gear I like that he added strength it helped on that TD catch when he was able to shake off the DB and keep going..
All in all there are still some things that need work but I’ll take the W because we know Mike McIntyre is a quality coach we had trouble beating his SJSU teams…
I can’t wait to see if the offense can get clicking it’s gonna be a thing of beauty if it happens
I was very happy for Nelson. He was the one that got burned by Spruce a couple times last season, but played well last night.
No. 5 ….agree with you…he has speed to burn…can’t seem 2 understand why he is not used more…in pics during practice…seems like he always had a few steps on his defender…strange….sumthing is definitely wrong…or is secret weapon next few games… ???
No. 6 … yea to bad it seem to work that way…we had 10 punts last nite…way to much…just giving the ball to the enemy…
When you pass…usually only 2 or 3 people has a shot at you…if you run… maybe 13 or 14 has a shot at you…cuz some will have maybe 2 shots…
Both have down sides…interception or run fumble….play the odds…should get batter results..
Has Bailey ever said what his basic philosophy is. I know he’s said many times the goal is to get the defense off balance and keep them off balance by increasing the pace. I know it’s not a run and shoot or a spread option though they do spread the field and pass quite often. From the play calling I get the impression it’s a spread the field, rhythm offense based on running to set up the pass. I may be way off base on this one but that’s what it seemed like to me.
21. It wasn’t Nelson who got burn it was Magget (sp?)
24: Warbow, yes, if memory serves me right, it was Maggitt who was toast last year in Boulder.
Problem with Maggitt is he was always in the right spot, just could never make a play on the ball to save his life.
Nelson did get burned by Shay Fields on a double move I think.. Thankfully Liufau over threw him.
Great win. But a lot to work on
Good points and comments earlier. Some other notes I thought:
1) Defensive backs played very good as a group, lots of breakups, and I don’t think there were any pass interference calls. Jackson had a great chance to get an INT too.
2) Front 7 were getting good push and harassing Liufau and getting some sacks. I like what Mason is doing, taking the aggressive stance.
3) UH held down Spruce, he’s the one guy we had to stop and they did.
4) I don’t think I ever heard Stubblefield, Barker, or Vasquez names called.
5) Overall, defense had their moments, offense had their moments, special teams has their moments. It all added to a team victory and that’s very good. And something to build on. It shows Hawaii has a fighting chance to compete and win enough games if they play consistent enough like they did last night. There are some things to clean up, but you have to believe they will get better and the team stays mostly healthy. Beat Davis, Monroe, and half the conference games gets us into a bowl game. There’s a lot that can happen going forward but that’s my thinking now. Colorado had 16 returning starters, a PAC 12 school. This win last night was BIG, BIG, BIG!
20. I agree but to a certain extent.
Sanchez was great. Pulling Jason Elam duties.
But… Kickoff coverage was awful. DeMattei wasn’t doing anything I saw. We got lucky on a hold to have 1 big play called back but it was still bad coverage. We had 2-3 illegal formations in punt formation. 1 was after a time out. Not acceptable to me.
Then we can’t ignore 3 muffed punts by Pedroza. We were fortunate it didn’t bite us. But we can’t only focus on end result when in reality, he muffed 3 times. Eventually, you’re gonna get exposed when you cough up the ball.
A win is a win and I will take it! In the last few years we found ways to lose and even though this is a bottom tier PAC-12 team, we normally would not have survived so many miscues and still win.
IMHO, Chow should have had hired Coordinators like Bailey and Mason when he first got hired. I think he underestimated how important it was to have two proven coordinators to run the offense and defense while he handled all the head coaching stuff. We still have a lot to improve on but I saw a lot of good things last night too.
Vasquez got in the game, made a catch or two, and had a few drops as well. Nothing memorable.

I did see a lot more use of 4-wide sets, or what appeared to be 4-wide sets. Couldn’t quite tell if it was one of our TE lined up as a wide. With all this talk about how amazing our receiving corp is, I would love to see more of this.

28. Jeezy, I’d be surprised if Dylan Collie is not the punt returner for the rest of the season.

Agreed, Kory showed both stoutness and athletism in the middle– he has made a strong case for more playing time or even being the first option at the nose.

Homecoming—CU is done next OSU away—Warriors return for UC Davis. Take friends family co-workers, those that watch games in movie theaters! Get them out their to support these kids the coaches and the program. If I’m the AD I’m selling tickets on street corners and shopping malls…..get out there and force some friends and family to have a good time! One and Oh! With non-conference games next to hone their skills, I look forward to the beginning of conference play. The first MWC home game is against SDSU on 10/10/15. I hope UH promotes that game well. A win there and 2015 Hawaii Bowl tickets would look pretty attractive.

leads to the philosophy of “no QB contact” during practices – why not let the QB take several hits – let him run and take a few hits from the corners or DEs to get him used to being “man-handled”

I know your reasoning for wanting to go back to the later start times but I noticed lotsa oldsters digging out in the 3rd qtr last night when it was still a 3-point game. Not sure if the “work night” argument applies cuz most of ’em looked to be AARP members.
UH defense stopped Liufau from throwing at least one TD pass in a game, for the first time in his career. He had thrown at least one TD in all 20 of his career games.

The thing I noticed from last nights game was the impact of having experienced Offensive and Defensive Coordinators. Except for some early game/season miscues, the boys were put/coached to be in position to make plays on “O” and “D” for a change. Jordan Wynn was just too inexperienced to handle being OC at the FBS level.
Max Wittek does make faster decisions and throws a beautiful accurate ball. Last season Woolsey did hold onto the ball too long and his accuracy was hit to miss.
Harris looked really good running the ball, Dejon Allen smart play saved UH from giving up 2 points for a safety. There is so much good things to say about all the Hawaii Football players about last nights game. Just got to clean up the miscues.
If this team can stay relatively healthy this could possibly be a bowl game season.

#41 – Was watching CBS and replay showed that Wittek during his pass attempt, hit his elbow during the follow through on the back of the helmet of his own OL player. He was grimacing awhile after that. Perhaps that was reason for appearing winded.
#41, Yeah, I was wondering what was wrong with Wittek. I thought maybe the heat was getting to him or he had taken a hit previously. He seemed to be blinking a lot so maybe the sweat was rolling down his face.
It seems like UH was making use of their TE a lot more this game.
I thought that the Colorado defense showed some good speed and was quick to close-in on our runningbacks. Good game for Harris to adjust to d-1 defenses. But I think that Harris will do a lot of damage in the MWC. Overall I think our d did one hell of a job.
Way to go Warriors. We have the players. They just need to stay healthy.

Wittek got hit in the head, he was showing signs of a mild concussion during the first quarter. I am not a doctor, I just play one on the blog. Chow may have told Baily to be aggressive at the start but those 3 runs at the end were not Baily’s style, more like Norm’s. The best team won and that is what counts.
Good win last night…actually a great win for this season. If this offense can find a rhythm, this team can really make some noise in conference.
Did Trayvon miss a class or something like that? Jackson and Lewis played great, but Trayvon is still one of our best defenders, and something must have been going on for him not to take a single defensive snap (cuz he did show up on special teams).
I think the one thing Wittek needs a little more of is pocket savvy. He has the tools but doesn’t have enough experience yet to feel/see the rush and make the proper adjustments with his feet He stood in there most of the time and didn’t move a step to either side or take a step or two back. He hung in there much like how Sean Schroeder and Ikaika did in their first year. He showed very ability to extend a play or to escape the rush if no one was open in the time he had. With a little more playing time I think he’ll get better at moving in the pocket. to his credit he did step up in the pocket several times but that was about all the movement he showed.
Good job Warriors! Couple of questions for you die hard fans that are in the know:
1) What happened to Diocemy Saint Juste? I thought he was projected to start.
2) What’s up with the MWC website? No mention of UH’s win against a PAC-12 team but front page coverage of Nevada’s win over UC Davis…..
At a recent practice there were 4 candidates working out on punt returns. Joas and Harris had multiple drops. Collie had 1 drop. Q had zero drops…and he looked the most smooth catching the ball. Obviously that wasn’t the case last night, but there was a reason he was named the starting punt returner. That being said, game performance trumps all and I wouldn’t be surprised to see Collie get a shot.
DSJ was in street clothes on the sideline with what sounds to be a hamstring issue…again. Lakalaka didn’t appear to have the same burst as last year, but that’s pretty understandable if he’s coming off hamstring surgery…which sounds pretty nasty in itself. Hopefully he can work his way back into form though. Harris looked like the real deal back there.

Akamai Okole — I don’t know why the old-timers left early , but the we should consider they bought tickets (season or walk-up) and came to the stadium in lousy weather on a weeknight. On the other hand, they might not come on a bright summer day at 2:00 pm because most old people are more concerned about heat exhaustion and skin cancer rather than working on their tans. No umbrellas allowed in the stadium too.
The TV announcers kept saying that Colorado must be off because it was like 1:00 am in the morning for them (game ran from 11:00 pm to 3:00 am Colorado time). You were at the Tsai-ko meeting with Coach Mack when I asked his preferred home game start time… he said midnight if he could get away with it–have the other team as far out of time sync as possible. He agreed 8:00 pm would be good–at east there’s decades long precedence of that happening in Hawaii. 👿
Norm said Max had the wind knocked out of him at one point, but he told Norm he was fine.
Hubby said that Wittek grimaced a lot after the first few series because he banged his elbow on someone’s helmet.
He recovered later.
52, You hit the nail on the head. Don’t let them fool you, Chow called the majority of the plays after Hawaii got the lead. It’s Chow’s style to run the ball when Hawaii has a lead (which is not very often). His main concern is to kill the clock with the lead. Hope that changes ASAP.

Voice still gone from last night but great game (although sloppy on both sides), a lot to build from but at least the big plays were contained to a minimum. I think the offense sputtered but got enough done for the W. Defense looked good although tired due to time on field. Secondary is greatly improved as well as LBs play. OL got to protect better and open lanes. Really glad to see Harris running, surprised but impressed with Bernard. Receivers dropped too many catch-able passes. Regarding Baileys calls, at one point i thought Chow was getting involved again by the play calling….I get the 3 pointer before half, but up 11 with 11 on clock and trying to run when we were having problems doing it…oh well it worked last night. On to Ohio…great game coaches and players. keep up the hustle, stay healthy and good luck next week. Just don’t get embarrassed (but win if you can cause that would be —k— crazy!)-Aloha Go Bows!!!

The next time we have our foot on the throat, I’d like to see us press harder…not let up and give um a chance to breathe. Guess there’s more than one way to skin a cat, but I’d prefer to go up by two scores (or just make 1st downs) rather than milk clock and rely on your defense in a one possession game. In hindsight though, every second that ticked off on those 3 runs during our last offensive series was crucial to the last play of the game.
Yea… me is not to happy…with winning…hanging on…rather be winning going away…but is just me…think 42…or 50 would be a better score then 28…2 more TD’s would have been super… n it shows they were capable…against the defense they played against last nite….
The first time each phases of the team came on the field, it was super exciting…. Def got a three and out… Sp Team blocked the punt and recovered the ball… Off came in and scored with a TD pass. Then the going for two was a big surprise.
We also have a 70+ TD pass from Wittek to Kemp. We have not have a long TD pass like that for years. That was great!
It was great to see a TD to the TE when the RB could not punch it in. But it is also bad that we could not punch it in at the 1 yard line twice…
Def played great overall but they could not stop Colorado’s run game. That’s a big problem! Then, Colorado’s passing game started going too, that was bad. Thank goodness, they were able to come back and get the turnover.
Off did not do well all the time.
In fact, at one point, I thought I was watching the “sloppy joe bowl”. As the announcers said, neither team wanted to win.
We are not sure if there was a conspiracy at the end of the game or not, Hawaii was saved by the clock. But if you say there was a conspiracy, those referees were from the PAC-12… No can blame UH or Mountain West.
Wittek was good, then, not so good, then good, then not so good…
But we may have chance to be good for the season!

Darren, I’m with you. Don’t take the foot off the pedal no matter what the score is. Although killing the clock helped at the end because Colorado wasted 2 timeouts but one of the 3 clock killing runs backfired on us with the delay of game penalty when we should have had a 1st down.
Well if you score….in stead of killing the clock… now it takes 2 possessions for them to try to beat us… even 3 points would help..
Late in the game Warriors went for it on 4th down near the 35. Very aggressive in my eyes not passive at all it resulted in a CU field goal after a failed pass attempt (short) they played aggressive most of the game. Every play does not have good results. Me I would have punted and hope they will next time.

We scored enough points to win and lot of that is due to Wittek. Not that he had a great game but he handled the QB position good enough for this game. He showed what a four star QB is. We only hope that he will continue to improve, rapidly maybe, because its his only year and we need points. On D, it appears strengths are in the D-backs since Colorado could only get off the short passes and took time in the pocket looking which helped with the sacks. Of course, Ohio State and Wisconsin will be smash mouth football so UH will need ball control and points. And luck.
I realize that OSU is a formidable foe, but how should the team approach it? What do the coaches say? I would accept that man for man it will be tough to match up so would use the game as an opportunity to give all those travelling some game time. Then they can all tell their kids how they played against OSU.

They looked like crap. I’m not talking about the play, I mean the uniforms. Those things are horrible. The green shirts don’t even come near matching the helmets. The gray pants? Mmmmm Hope we have some different combinations.
Now the play? That’s a different story. I was pretty pleased. You can see some of our strengths and of course some areas to work on. But I’ll be optimistic and say it was opening game jitters.
It seems like the offense has the JJ type can score when we need to vibe. I like that. Not there yet, but the feeling is there.

Anyone else notice at least a couple of new O-Linemen were not in uniform? I think is it Norm’s policy from previous seasons that he limits the number of players that suit up; scout team players do no suit up for the game. Anyone know if I am correct?
Mahalo to all of our student/athletes and coaches for doing their best and winning their first game. I pray for good health and no injuries the rest of the way. It was very important to get this win and this game under their belt and now the coaches can see which players are gamers.
As I stated before I always predict a Hawaii win because I support Hawaii and not my ego so Hawaii 24 Ohio State 21.
Watching the Boise St – Washington game. Now why can’t we have a running game like Boise St.? Washington simply cannot stop Boise St’s runners going inside and outside. Chris Petersen has a look of confusion on his face while getting beat by his old team.

Boise has one of the best OL’s in the west and all the starters are returnees. I like the Boise RB’s. They run hard and hit the holes super quick.
Props to O-Lineman Dejon Allen for his heads up play to avoid a disaster for UH.

I saw a lot of UH jerseys getting stretched going through the line…especially in the 2nd half. If UH wore tear-away jerseys I think a lot of guys would be shirtless. Hmmm…I know you have to come out for a play if you lose your helmet…does that apply to jerseys too. 😕

Given how last night’s game was progressing, I wanted to see more runs to eat the clock. It took Colorado out of their own running game.
So Ohio State plays at VA Tech on Monday which means they leave Columbus on Sunday and return right after the game. NCAA says the guys have to have a day off so that’s probably Tues. Leaves Wed-Thur-Fri to prepare for UH; are they taking us lightly and looking ahead ??? What an easy schedule for them …after Hawaii it’s Northern IL, then Western Michigan, then Indiana followed by Maryland… next really “name” opponent is Penn State
I agreed with last nights play calling. Aggressive when they should of been, and conservative when they should of been. Good job! Winning by 1 is still a win, and the object is to win the game! My main concern however is not containing the opposing qb when he bolts. I saw it last night again as I saw it last year against Nevada. Hard to script a defense for that but we need to work on contain. Defense showed good overall team speed. Offense played to a C+ grade. I think we will see a better team after a few games under our belt. I am hoping the next game doesn’t set us back too much. We could do very well in conference and start the stadium rocking again later in the season. Hope so! It’s Chow Time. (;-)
Did Devan Stubblefield play? I don’t recall seeing him in the game. I saw him suited up on the sidelines.

Overall, an exciting game, and a great win. However, with a minute or so left in the first half, a one point lead, and about half a field to go, burning about 20 seconds without taking a timeout was a surprise … but not an entirely unfamiliar one.
Some made much of the stats game….just some points of reference. Warriors had two scores tha used very little time. CU QB was running for his life and racked up a bunch of yards. Then we have the dropped balls, some receiver fault some because the ball was rifled. Stepping back from it all Warriors controlled the game given the fact they led the entire time and totally stifled CU passing attack. 158 yds passing 0 TD. That’s controlling!!!! Bring on the Buckeyes!!!!
We won the battle NOT the war! One down 12 to go. Colorado is not a true contender but a good game for UH to check the positives and negatives. Check it! Players keep your head in the game. No celebrating, no talking smack, no taughting. No time for BS. DO your job. Attitude is everything. Some of what I saw last nite from players was disappointing. One win doesn’t make a victory. Remember who your next opponent is. The champions. They hold that title for a reason. Victory is reserved for those who are willing to pay it’s price. They paid it fir 3 years. What impressed me the most is how conditioned the team was to the last play. No BS. They were balling that nite and saved their celebration for the end. UH will be traveling from Hawaii to Ohio. That flight ain’t no joke. That already will be a factor against them. Time difference, jet lag, weather, etc…. Get it together son. One catch, one tackle, 1 TD? No time celebrate, get cocky, or even think you got this because you dont. Get ready for the true contender and you will be reminded why they are champions. Get ready to meet the best program in the nation. Sometimes a wake up call is needed. No diss. I am sure Ohio was taking names and numbers last nite. But nonetheless this game will be a great teaching and learning game for both the players and coaches. Take the opportunity to learn and grow as players. I wish Max the best of luck. Great arm but no mobility. Footwork, footwork, footwork. OL needs to protect him at all cost. Or UH better get our backup QB’S ready. Our receivers look better but this is only the beginning. Better route running and separation needed. Defense played more aggressive but play smart. Sorry Chow, no rest for the weary. I know he’s getting no sleep. Back to the classroom, film, and field. You knew the job was dangerous when you took it Coach. UH players do not take anything for granted. Work hard play harder. Practice like you play and keep your mouths shut and attitudes in check. You got 12 games to go.
Remember, Ohio is the best for a reason. Best program in the nation. Best coaching, best players, best facilities, and the biggest budget money can buy. All Americans that is. We can’t blame the head coach when you start comparing UH to the top teams even in our conference. There are high school programs on the mainland that have way better facilities then UH. That comes down to money. Where is all the money going? I feel sorry for our UH athletic program especially our football program. We got great fans. However, politics always rules. On and off the field. If you got the talent Chow, you better use them all. Rotate your players because your gonna need them in the long run. Don’t wait till you have no choice and they had no real time in the game. If you have a trump card your saving? I suggest you use it. No time for BS. You need all the help you can get.
First of all great win. My observations: Tight ends dropped some crucial passes including a touchdown and caused an interception. Receivers can’t get separation, how does Spruce do it? Is it a coaching thing or players? Maybe if tight ends catch receivers will get open. Run blocking could learn from Colorado. Are we down to 2 running backs? Defensive backs did a good job, but need to get out of the nickel when the other team is running it down our throats. Front line defense needs a stopper in the middle. Again great win!
