Game week

With the opener on Thursday, that means today is “Monday,” which means this is the start of game week.

The Warriors had a nice 75-minute practice this morning. In team drills, they focused on the running game and two-minute offense.

There still are some spots up for grabs. With Dylan Collie held out to rest nagging ailments — not to worry, he’ll be ready for the opener — Isaiah Bernard took reps as the first-team slotback. Right wideout Quinton Pedroza was excused because of a family death on the mainland. He is scheduled to return to Hawaii tomorrow.

There also was a surprise guest — Isa‘ako Sopoaga, a former UH and 49er defensive lineman.

Ice

Sopoaga was wearing a retro Washington Bullets jersey.

The other day, he wore a retro Milwaukee Bucks jersey. Someone asked him: “Who’s Al Cindor?”

Geesh. Kids.

* * * * *

(Jesse) James is the winner of the cap.

Thanks, DPK.

Thanks everyone for playing. DPK will have more giveaways this coming week.

    TOP TWO?

  4. Kapahulu August 29, 2015 1:39 pm

I thought I saw Sopoaga last night at UH Athletic Complex wearing a Lakers Abdul-Jabbar Jersey.

It was really nice to see alot of the UH Football Players at the UH Wahine Volleyball game last night.

  5. H-Man August 29, 2015 1:42 pm

Wow, yes, put Isa’ako in a Warrior uniform. He looks in great shape.

  6. Stephen Tsai August 29, 2015 1:53 pm

    Wes Unseld?

  7. ai-eee-soos August 29, 2015 1:55 pm

Perhaps the Big Guy will endow one football scholarship.

He, along with Elam and Hunter, and Manuwai and Sapolu, each
earned Big NFL $$$. They can afford to give back.

  8. oneseason August 29, 2015 2:43 pm

Carson Palmer looks really good in these highlights. As long as Coach Chow wasn’t blowing smoke at the MWC Football Media Days, this should be a fun season … https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bxjWbTRc_VA

  9. H-Man August 29, 2015 2:44 pm

Yup, looked it up. Unseld’s number was 41.

Anyone catch the Montana v. North Dakota St. Game? Was a good one. Montana edged ahead with a few seconds left in the game.

  11. Jeezy33 August 29, 2015 3:10 pm

Ex Warrior Ellis Henderson had a good day for Montana today. Too bad we couldn’t keep him and Trevor Davis.

“In team drills, they focused on the running game and two-minute offense.”

Just hope that is not a prelude to the game plan 4 Thursday nite…
Guess who makes up the practice schedule to FJ’s delight..he he he ??

    Sunday focus the running game…

When I first saw the picture I thought Isa’ako Unseld. That was one of my favorite teams way back when. Wes and Earl the Pearl.

  15. z August 29, 2015 4:10 pm

    8. Montana game showed how the long ball can be an equalizer. Hope to see some this year. We got the tools.

    Great Tuesday Morning All!

    Game Week indeed!

    Let’s Git ‘Er Done, Warriors!

  45. Akamai Okole August 30, 2015 6:16 am

Not taking away from the on-field effort of the Crusaders’ win last night, but it was interesting watching an Interested Observer on the home team’s sideline…

  46. Manoa Mist August 30, 2015 8:22 am

I’m tired of all the UH hype. Let’s see what happens on the field boys. Keep it real my friends. Believe what you see, not what you hear. I do hope we win Colorado cause I got a nice bet going with a Colorado grad.
    And yes, I’m taking Hawaii!
On another subject, what a great story about the Waianae burn victim in the Sunday paper. Brother Mike is showing up The Blog Host with that inspirational story. Brought a tear to my one good eye, and I ain’t even kidding.

  47. wow August 30, 2015 9:41 am

#44, what hype, sounds more like drama on you part ….

  48. A-House August 30, 2015 9:55 am

with each passing day and Ignacio keeps moving “north” chances are increasing that whatever effects will me minimized

but, now being a cat 4 storm – a slight change to the west, say 3-5 degrees, then expect the torrential rain and winds from Wed into Thurs

  49. A-House August 30, 2015 9:56 am

    #46: “me”? how ’bout “be”?

i was poor in spelling, english, and typing

  50. 3-Prong August 30, 2015 10:26 am

Um Mr. Okole, what team might that interested observer represent? Does it start with an “O”?
