Monday A.M., CSUN vacates 18 matches
Turn out the lights, the practice is over. But told them I could finish in the dark.
The weather forced the 630 a.m. practice to be moved from Gym I to the arena. Seems that the humidity created slippery floor conditions deemed unsafe. Can we say ACLs waiting to happen?
They are down to single practices through Thursday, rest of the time in the afternoon. Today also is the first day of classes.

Jeff Hall has had the benefit of working under Charlie Wade, who in turn was exposed to many different ideas on the mainland. (Shoji did not have the same benefit himself, so his assistants really learn on their own.) One thing that I admire about Charlie is that he cares about people and is a good mentor. One question: have the Wahine started to use the same volleyball app that Charlie uses, now that Jeff is working under Shoji? It is about time the Wahine move into the computer age (like the rest of the nation).

i think we can all guess pretty much the starters at this point. but i hope the primary consideration, as far as the OHs are concerned, is given to passing. it was the weakest aspect of their game last year. and with so much depth at the position, i hope they can put together a solid, if not serviceable, passing back line. whether it be utilizing the OHs on the bench, or in combination with the depth at the DS position too.

that’s tough news for CSUN. jeff storke was doing great things with that program.
on VTalk, some posters are also saying that danetta boykin is no longer on the CSUN roster. she was such an explosive attacker for them, and had a lethal jump serve. CSUN was already having to replace their passing, but to lose one of their best, if not best, attackers is a huge loss.
one of CSUN’s setters from last year, steffi miller, is also missing from this year’s roster …

1. blunite —Charlie didn’t let Aniefre play even one serve on the senior night in 2014. Maybe a reason ? But Dave tries to let every senior play on their senior night, even if for a short time.
Does it say anywhere what the rules violations were ?

It was actually Spencer McLachlin who maintained the laptop with the apps. Unfortunately, Spencer might have already left. During an interview on TV Charlie made mention, in passing, about the app. CSUN’s loss of 18 victories had to have been due to NCAA level I infraction(s); in which case there are other penalties involved. As a rule, someone on the coaching staff gets the axe (if not the entire staff).
Think conclusions are being jumped to way too quickly regarding CSUN and sanctions
As for starting lineup seems pretty obvious that it will be the A side from Saturday But Shoji said this morning all three middles will play
Also as of 830 Mitchem was not cleared to play only to practice Nothing serious just Official Enrollment stuff that didn’t get done by Friday which was a state holiday

it sounds like prepvolleyball’s senior aces list is starting to be rolled out this week.
it’s been mentioned on VTalk that one of hawaii’s recent verbal commits, kirsten sibley, landed in the “just missed” grouping, just outside the top 100. i guess john tawa and his machine do not think highly of her … oh well

Oh yes!!! Looking so forward to a great year. This is one of the years in which whoever gets the starting nod there shouldn’t be much room to have a let down in an individual’s play. Due to the quality depth we possess this year you will almost have to be healthy and ready to play at a high level every match. The drop off of many of the players is not much. They all seem confident and ready to compete. I feel this team has a great luxury from past teams. We need to make the best opportunity of these blessings…
1. back to the app thing. pretty sure the Wahine have used computer software for charting for a number of years. Has been the job of the team manager if i’m not mistaken. UH also one of the first schools to use data volley for both its men and women’s programs.
And Anton M. was with the Wahine before taking a job with USA Volleyball, in part due to his reputation from UH.
Perhaps the Wahine managers doing the computer work weren’t as visible as Spencer, Chris’ son, who might have mentioned what son does during the broadcast.
Trust me, Shoji is very up on what other schools and what international teams are doing.

I just can’t wait for the season to start already. I’m hearing a lot of good things about this new Rainbow Wahine Volleyball Team. I am really excite to see how Maglio and the rest of the starters will perform during lights on. I am also excite how the newcomers do once they see the big crowd.

Who said Shoji was stubborn to changes. We saw a hint of the changes with the playing of music during practices, and now the pre-game warm up routine. I’m guessing the routine was picked up from the Euro trip, Cindy?

The Beach has always had a number of transfers.
Interesting about Withers going to USC. The two ‘gets’ for Tennessee obviously steps up for those 2 players.
They can play right away in new conferences.
