Excited about Mitchem too, but mostly because I want to find out if she practices with the middles or pinhitters. Hope the pinhitters so Maglio gets lots of playing time.

By the way this is the article on Stijn Van Tilburg when put through google translate so doesn’t make the most sense but you can tell what they mean. The article says he will be at UH in late August.

    http://www.volleybalkrant.nl/nieuwsbericht/9209/van-tilburg-gaat-op-amerikaans-avontuur

“Stijn van Tilburg will play the upcoming season in the American League. The 19-year-old Van Tilburg makes the transition from the Talent Team at the University of Hawaii.

Through an agent Van Tilburg had several offers, but he chose Hawaii. The University of Hawaii showed its interest after seeing a video on Youtube.

,, You may only play in America if you have not been under contract with a club, so this was my last chance. Hawaii was the last season the best of the western conference (ed: there is a western, middle and eastern conference in the US) and volleyball there is the greatest sport, that’s why I chose them. ”

The competition will be placed the 19-year-old passer-runner against other clubs in the American West Coast. ,, Every two weeks we fly to the mainland. Most teams are out of the competition in Los Angeles. ”

The volleyball team of Hawaii, also called Rainbow Warriors, has the largest volleyball stadium of the competition. In the Stan Sheriff Center to as many as 10,000 people. Hawaiian pride is visible; not just a matchball named an aloha-ball, the staff wears Hawaiian shirts and a floral wreath.

Van Tilburg leaves in late August to Hawaii, where he will combine his studies in economics and volleyball. Volleyball in America seems to him a wonderful opportunity: ,, The American League has over the years produced many good volleyball players. In addition, many players came from the American team ever for Hawaii. ”

,, And this of course also be one of the most beautiful places in the world, ” concludes an enthusiastic Van Tilburg off.”

NED W: U.S. player won’t come to Sliedrecht, suffered tough injury!
It could have been her first season abroad but it didn’t happen. Injury prevented her of going to Netherlands.
    Mita Mita
Mita Uiato will have to wait for first professional contract. The reason for this is that the U.S. setter suffered an injury before the departure to Netherlands. The MRI revealed that she needs surgery on her cruciate ligament. After the surgery, she’ll need six to nine months to recover.
Both sides decided to terminate the contract. Sliedrecht has to search for another player.
In the last season she played for Wahine Volleyball Booster Club at the University of Hawaii.

hey cindy do you know if they going to do like some sort of scrimmage the week before first serve like last year? like how they tested the experienced ‘vets’ vs the lower class.

i know thats not likely practical considering theres fewer upperclassmen and many are in the middle. but is there any such ‘free’ scrimmage to watch?

  7. hollycow August 16, 2015 7:52 am

In today’s SA article there is a scrimmage this Saturday, but free, I don’t know. Cindy?

  8. hollycow August 16, 2015 7:55 am

  9. rayson August 16, 2015 11:18 am

  10. mauna August 16, 2015 3:39 pm

The italian junior national team which beat the wahine handedly during the Wahine’s Europe trip just did the same to theUS junior national team featuring all the hot shot recruits like Lexi Sun and Kathryn Plummer. Egonu is a phenom.

If she is cleared, Mitchem supposed to practice Monday second session in the afternoon. Guess will see then where they’re looking to use her.
    6. don’t know what the format will be. All Shoji said was they were scrimmaging.
    7. yes, my article said scrimmage Saturday. In the past it was a Booster Club thing although last year it was open to the public. And there was no charge.
