Day 4 with the Wahine, video short

Short video from Wednesday with Magill and Burns

Last day of 2 practices for this week. They’re going only afternoon Friday and only morning on Saturday.

Mitchem scheduled to arrive Saturday afternoon and, if paper work has gone through, she’ll be cleared to practice Monday.

Magill missed the afternoon session. Wasn’t feeling well.

Freshmen seem to be integrating well and during mini scrimmages are active participants in the offense and defense. Still some glitches as they learn serve-receive patterns and area defense.

A lot of routine drills, serve and pass, serving. Shoji mixes in some of his ‘games’ such as ‘baseball’ which is a type of scoring based on real points scored and mistakes. It creates outs and runners on base. Too complicated for me to understand but players enjoy it.

Trainers mixing up the warmup exercises to keep things from becoming monotonous.

Having a taller block has been good for both the OHs and MBs who are having to be smarter with their shots.

They’ve actually updated the women’s volleyball banner to reflect that past couple of NCAA tournament appearances. And the national championship banners have been rehung for more equal spacing and being straighter.

So excited for this season. We will have a legit threat at every position, something we’ve lacked for a while.

Also glad to finally have Annie with the team on saturday.

In your opinion Cindy, is Hawai’i capable of running a 6 – 2?

excited about the season too, but a little worried about the setting again. Too bad Iosia is not a 2015 grad

    2. yes but don’t know if they will. They’re working both setters and Koelsch has made great strides from last year with her location.

    3. but she’s not. She’ll be with Redondo Union at the Ann Kang if you want to see her play.
