Agasiva to CC; gassers with a twist

Offensive lineman Jordan Agasiva, who signed with the Warriors in February, has enrolled at Pima Community College in Tucson, Ariz.

Agasiva will join 15 Hawaii residents, including three fellow Mililani High graduates.

The Warriors had braced for the move, and will have about 15 offensive linemen in training camp.

* * * * *

Tuesdays are sprint workouts for the Warriors. That means gassers, a series of 55-yards sprints across the width of Ching field. The non-linemen were required to complete each gasser within 8 seconds. The linemen did gassers … while pushing sleds weighted down with two 45-pound plates.

    big loss, imo

  5. H-man July 7, 2015 10:36 am

Max Wittek looks really cut for a QB and game ready. N maybe Jason Muraoka might get some carries this season. I like how New Mexico does it – uses about 8 running backs. But then again, they have no passing game to speak of.

  6. Buffoman July 7, 2015 10:43 am

Did Jordan take the JC route because he did not meet the requirements to enter UH out of high school? Is he now free to choose another college once he is eligible to transfer?

  7. Stephen Tsai July 7, 2015 10:46 am

He needs to get an AA before he can transfer to an NCAA school.

  8. H-man July 7, 2015 10:47 am

    Who are the 15 O-Linemen? I count 12 on the roster…so far.

  9. letsgowarriors July 7, 2015 11:02 am

i only count 12 as well, but maybe theyre counting Sione Kauhi and Eperone Moananu as guys that can play OL. and i guess JC recruit Antonio Flowers

  10. letsgowarriors July 7, 2015 11:03 am

maybe a couple of walkon OL are joining the team

  11. SteveM July 7, 2015 11:20 am

    Good morning everyone!

The workouts and the efforts of the athletes is inspiring.
ST, thanks for the insight into their training,

  12. Da Punchbowl Kid July 7, 2015 11:30 am

Whew! Feeling gassed just looking at the pics. Warriors look like they’re working hard. I remember as lineman, feeling jealous of the skill guys because their drills looked easier and they got most of the glory.

    GO WARRIORS!!!

  13. PONO July 7, 2015 11:30 am

That’s a big blow to recruiting. Sad that these HS kids can’t qualify.

  14. Warbow July 7, 2015 11:41 am

And it starts. July is always the month for disappointment UH football news. I think I’ve lost count of the number of players that was lost here due to non-qualifying. JT Turner, TiGi Hill, Fermin, Riggins, Fangupo, Sale, Polk, Q. Brown, T. Gray, Mamea, Tuaau, Dominick Sierra, Zach Quines, David Katina, Aulola Tonga, Destin Stewart, David Hafoka, Chad Lopati

The list goes on and on. Not many if any have qualified in July.

Too bad regarding Agasiva. So now expect about 15 OL in camp. There are 12 so about means 1 maybe 2 more. Lavaka still not arrived…… I figured a few freshman would evolve to key roles. Agasiva was one of them…..hope we can get a few good prospects or a transfer. Go Warriors!!!!!

Main thing is to keep the dream alive. Succeed at the CC level and continue on to wherever it takes you.

    C’est la vie…

For the right amount of money, I’ll do a gasser. Passing gas is free.

  17. A-joe July 7, 2015 12:59 pm

jimmy the lock- exactly. Your outlook and support is what these young men need most.

Howzit Tsaikos. See you all Saturday.

We have many people here complaining about not wanting to subsidize athletics at one university – UH, but this article highlights why UH is falling behind. Report shows that 8 NCAA Utah schools received some $56 million is subsidies.

  19. NorthShoreFan July 7, 2015 1:16 pm

    Guud Afternoon Tsaikos…bootiful day.

do we have a program that keep in contact and monitor these kids who do not qualify? seems to me if we show the continued interest, we might entice them back when they qualify.

    Anyhoo, IMUA WARRIORS!

  20. 808warriorfan July 7, 2015 1:20 pm

That last pix w/ Dayton Furuta & Ben Clarke, is that a Safeway shopping cart they’re pushing around ???

  21. Stephen Tsai July 7, 2015 1:25 pm

I thought Safeway carts were red.

  22. jimmy the lock July 7, 2015 1:45 pm

Yep, Safeway get beige carts too. Tom Brower might come by and sledge hammer da buggah.

  23. jimmy the lock July 7, 2015 1:53 pm

Who get the best shopping carts? Irritating when you get the one with the bad wheel and make the loudest thunk thunk thunk noise in the store. Then you get the one with the wobbly wheel in the front. And then the one that has the wheel lock that comes down when you try to pass the yellow line. And then the one where people leave their rubbish inside. And then the ones where two carts stuck together and you watch the people struggle to take them apart. And then the one that’s parked in a parking stall so you make the wife go out and move it.

  24. Stephen Tsai July 7, 2015 2:07 pm

They’ve got some on-call guys ready to go.
It’s like Law & Order. McCoy makes offers; the first one who accepts gets the deal.

  25. Stephen Tsai July 7, 2015 2:09 pm

    Jimmy:
When Kailua Target opened, that was the first time I ever got to push around a spanking-new cart. It was great. Clean. Smooth riding. No old lettuce stuck in the lining.
Then again, as I learned later, I wasn’t supposed to be there. It was an invitation-only soft opening. I just moseyed in, like Mr. MaGoo, and got samples and a clean cart.

  26. NorthShoreFan July 7, 2015 2:30 pm

LOL…me and my patnah invited ourselves to the Teddy’s Bigger Burger in Haleiwa…neva know it was a soft opening to train da staff. Went in, sat down, ordered from da menu the waiter brought and had a great meal. One burger, one fish n chips….was guuuuud! Den wen ask fo da bill and da waiter said…nah dis one free!…I wen nah no joke, wat my damage? he go no joke, dis one free…I go, wat? why? den he tell me dis one soft opening, we training staff…..hooo man face came red….but wen leave on big tip and sneak out da door…everytime I go back he smile at me…

  27. Old School Dave July 7, 2015 3:13 pm

Had to chuckle at the pic of Dayton Furuta & Ben Clarke and the shopping cart.

If the supermarkets and stores want to cut down on cart theft (they’re not cheap), they should switch and get they type of carts they use in Japan which are only a frame on wheels to put your hand-carry basket on top.

  28. Buffoman July 7, 2015 4:37 pm

The second part to my question regarding JA, is can he choose to go to any college once he qualifies (has his AA) or is he bound to the institution that offered him (and he accepted) a scholarship? If he is not bound since he did not qualify immediately, is UH obligated to hold the scholarship and is that included in the total number of scholarships it can offer even if the student is not at the school?

I don’t know how it works when someone is offered, accepts, does not academically qualify, goes to a JC to get an AA.

Crown plaza downtown Columbus 3 miles from Ohio Stadium. Just booked. Go Warriors

    Maddog50 is THE Road Warrior!

  33. Ipu Man July 8, 2015 7:10 am

In the old leather helmet days, guys who couldn’t get into college
went on to play for money in the semi-professional leagues.

  34. 3-Prong July 8, 2015 7:58 am

Listening to Shoji on the Josh for BC show now. Interesting that although dave signed on through 2017, he wavered about returning in 2016 because it’s an olympic year and the boys are on the national team.
