Carpenter, who joined the station in 2012, will be moving to the mainland.
Carpenter is a Kamehameha Schools and HPU graduate. He has served as sports anchor and reporter. He has worked diligently and enthusiastically.

I’ve known Mark for a few years, even before he became a regular as a reporter then sportscaster on HNN. Talked with him a few times at the gym and at practice. I stand by my original post. The fact that he’s a Kamehameha graduate is just icing on the cake. He always struck me as guy with a good head on his shoulders. 😉
Guess that finally opens a space for Taryn on the desk. Good luck Mark and looking forward to seeing more of Taryn.

To the person who wrote a couple of posts yesterday to dog out Hawai’i players on the UH team: Why you think it’s okay to criticize student athletes is beyond me. Not only were your remarks mean spirited, they were very inaccurate. Just ask the 80 + plus college coaches on at Chad Ikei’s combine at UH over the weekend, who were there to scout Hawaii high school players.
Classless and clueless.

While thinking about how the Warriors will do this season, I realized while listening to Abe Elkimimian on the BC Sports Talk Show this morning, that I have completely forgotten to consider the changes/additions to the coaching staff the past couple of years. In addition to the two new coordinators, Chow has added Wayne Moses, Chris Naeole, Kurt Gouveia, Jake Cookus, Lance Samuseva and Abe Elimimian. I think this is an outstanding staff. Whether Hawaii ends up 3-10 or 8-5, I know this staff will have the Warriors ready to play.
Good Luck to Mark. Kid is going to be a good one. Hope he stays in the business. Really don’t understand the direction of HHN sports direction. I can see someone like Spangler or Demello making a move.
Elimimian is going to be a very good coach.
He’s very detailed-oriented.
Plus, he had that chip-on-his-shoulder attitude when he played here. You’ll see a lot of DBs playing that way this season.
Keep an eye on Jerrell Jackson. He’s going to be a good one .
Does anyone recall a few years back when Carpenter was the PA announcer at Wahine Hoops games?
DBs, in my opinion, are probably the most athletic unit on a football team.
Agree about the promising future of DBs coach Abe Eliminian. He’s one to watch. I think defensive secondary is the most challenging positions to coach because of all of your players being spread out over a large area. It can get lonely out there as a DB. The UH LB corp looks promising with a lot more depth and size, too. LB’s coach Kurt Gouveia will have them ready.

Best of luck to Mark Carpenter with his future endeavors. He is always very professional, hard-working, and articulate. I have a feeling we’ll be seeing him in a bigger market/venue in the future.
BTW, how tall is Mark Carpenter? Did he play BB at Kamehameha?

it was very disappointing to read that Gib will “spill the beans” on other UH programs who may have committed NCAA infractions to support his contention that UHAD contributed to his current situation – is this true?
why is it necessary for his attorney to seek NCAA approval to speak to Amanada, UH compliance officer? who does she work for? UH or NCAA?
seems like she is a scout for the NCAA to find instances of wrong doing – a spy!!! as Mrs A-House mentioned, she should help the UHAD and coaches to avoid violations; not find them and threaten a coach that she will report it if the coach does not
a US Army Inspector General used to find “violations” and “hammer” the wrong doer – that went out the window around 1987 when it became a primary mission to find and help correct “systemic” problems; the hammer was left to the CG or CID if appropriate.

Whether uninformed, addle-brained, or just a troll, when the Heisman Trophy winner is from Hawaii, and many more local players are highly recruited by top football programs, an individual that doesn’t respect the capability of local players is clearly wrong.
ST: Have a great vacation…I guess I’ll have to hang-out at WSN or Warrior Insider to get my “fix” on UH sports. How do we know when you’ve come back and resumed the Blog?

So UH terminates Arnolds ‘s contract without cause to avoid a lawsuit associated with the alleged NCAA violations, puts $1.4 in termination compensation in play, and then files a lawsuit against Arnold for those same NCAA violations and two thousand one hundred and twenty three dollars ($2,123) and no cents, apparently. I really wish someone at UH would explain that this approach was planned before terminating Arnold and not something they stumbled into when he tried to claim his $1.4M. Amanda Paterson is a former UH soccer player.
I worked with Amanda on several ‘issues’ while I was with Na Koa. I researched several of the issues in the NCAA ‘Blue Book/Binder’ and then ran it by her to make sure my interpretation was correct. The football program booster organization was ‘clean’ of any violations because of this approach.
It was, and is, her job to keep UH out of the NCAA gun sights and I believe she does a great job.
In certain instances, if a violation comes to her attention she is required by UH and the NCAA to do a ‘UH Self report’. I am of the understanding that this is what was done with regards to the BB program.
As an aside, I was present several times when coaches became verbally abusive to the compliance officer as she gave the official UH response/NCAA interpretation to their requests. She made her points, quoted the reference material, and did ‘respond in kind’. That takes a professional in my opinion.
Amanda has a tough job; she does a great job; I don’t know many that would want the job.

understand your post – yet, the article specifically stated that Gib’s attorney had to get NCAA permission/clearance to interview Amanda – kinda threw me off!
I was an Inspector General and aware of all the nasty things that came my way – in fact a Colonel, who was in the “in-crowd” of my Commanding General, told me point blank that “they” could not wait until my tour was up so I would not interfere with all their “shenanigons” – resentment is a kind word for an IG!!!
Mr. A-House, maybe Counselors Mui or Boolakanaka or NotNasti can explain why opposing attorneys might need permission to talk to a witness.
I hope some MLB team will think outside the box and offer Kaeo Aliviado a free agent contract like Pi’ikea Kitamura.
All those early season home runs turned out to be a curse. I think Aliviado was trying to be Kolten Wong. I’m pretty sure he can hit for average. No team wants a 5’5″ slugger.
I’m a little surprised that Jacob Sheldon-Collins went undrafted.

I think he, his attorney or both thought that UH based on past performance, would have settled rather than go to court (or file a counter suit).

#38, Don, I think everyone is wondering why Davis Rozitis is claiming in his letter that the compliance office had advised him everything was kosher with his actions and why she is retaining an attorney.
