This is an NCAA evaluation period, meaning coaches can visit a prospect’s school and meet with coaches and counselors. Several UH coaches are on the road.
The evaluation period runs through the end of May.

This search for 2015 or 2016? I feel like our 2015 is incomplete. Still some major holes to fill as far as depth goes. Not deep enough to afford any key injuries which are a given to happen in football

Of the 3 visitors at last Saturday’s scrimmage, at least 2 were Class of 2015 prospects……still in HS……but gonna be graduating soon.
Last I heard — and this was before spring ball — there were about three scholarships available. Not sure if that means grayshirt possibilities, but that was the last number I had. I think there are conditional offers out there — make the requirements, you come. The next month should clear a lot of issues.
I like Charlie Wade’s theory of recruiting. If two middle blockers are graduating, the potential replacements already are in the program. The recruits can fill in, if necessary — and freshmen can play — but the expectation is that next year’s starters already are in the program.
11. That’s how you’re supposed to recruit. Unfortunately Chow doesn’t understand the importance of continuity. Or maybe he does, but failing to execute.
QB position shouldn’t be turning over every single season as a HC. Schroeder year 1, Graham year 2, Woolsey year 3, Wittek year 4.
DL was a strength filled with Mack recruits. But besides Kennedy, the staff failed to develop young DL for when Moses, Marcus, and Beau graduate.
It seems like we have been trying to find quick fixes at OT every year but we’ve whiffed on all of our JC OTs.

Must be a very difficult to get QUALITY recruits.. .. when they see the university in disarray…in decline..n look at the won n loss record… n coaches in the past..in a revolving door…all the negatives me see n hear here…is also seen n heard by them.. n more from players n other coaches…can’t expect to much of players that are highly recruited by others…it will be used against UH in making UH their choice..

The 2 Class of 2015 HS visitors (1 mainland & 1 local) at last Saturday’s scrimmage definitely fall in the category of “under-the-radar” sleeper prospects.
But the local HS prospect is kinda intriguing…….since didn’t play much at all the past 2 HS seasons……..but definitely already has FBS size…….mostly height…….at around 6’6″ tall.
ST – #11 – didn’t Chow say he didn’t believe in redshirting? Charlie Wade is willing to redshirt the recruits, national team member or not.
Moving Kekoa Pukahi to middle sounds like what happened to Taylor Averill.
Most Hawaii’s boys want to play for Hawaii where their families and friends can watch them play at least every home game. Unless they want to experience a different environment, UH is still a big draw and it is a hard decision for some players to make. Many want to experience the mainland life. However after a year or two quite a few boys transfer back, or want to, to Hawaii to finish their college playing careers. It does not matter that much what our facilities are in comparison to other schools, they would do with less to be able to play for their home town. To some, being in front of their families and friends is what is important to them. Whatever they decide is right for them, IS right for them. We should be proud of all of our young athletes, no matter what route that they choose. You can imagine the thrill of playing in a stadium with 60,000 cheering fans compared to our stadium with maybe 30,000 however when you factor in that their family and friends are there, where would some of them rather be?
Aloha stadium is not a venue that we should apologize for. It can rock!
I keep seeing posts about being undermanned on both sides of the line. Hoping praying it isn’t as bad as what some say, and if it is, really hoping and praying we can fix that.
Like the rest of the positions – I think this could be a good year. Fall camp will tell the tale.
Paucity? Isn’t that like living in the country, out of the city. Kahana Bay or Waihole would be a good example of paucity, right? 😆
And boola, does Halawa count as paucity?
Hope the coaches on the recruiting trail are able to bring in a plethora of big, strong, game – ready line men!

Reading today’s entry this would exclude Chow, or HC’s, from participating in recruiting during the evaluation period ending in May?

Look at the Iolani discus thrower (Borden) and the Kam shot put thrower-Apo.
Apo (I’ve seen his football films); I would keep an eye on him.

Returning to my car after Campbell/Kamehameha-Kapalama, I ran into Ian Kahaloa’s father(or somebody claiming to be Kahaloa’s father), who asked if Campbell won or not. After telling him the result, he said, “Yes.” Explaining himself, Kahaloa Sr. said that he gets too nervous watching his son pitch.
Kahaloa threw 134 pitches.
It’s a dilemna, isn’t it?

I remember reading somewhere that Shane Komine was overworked at Nebraska.
Kahaloa was as advertised, and his adversary, Paiva, looked sharper than half of the guys in Hawaii’s bullpen.
There was a buzz in the stadium.
Incredible atmosphere.
So refreshing to watch a game, in which nobody was checking their phones.

NC Central is the best offer he could get after decommitting from Hawaii. Maybe it wasn’t his decision after all.

Yea… IPU MAN…. agree…. but there has to be sumone there to instill that in them….does not seem like this head coach can do that…if past 3 years are ne indication…hope with some on the asst coaches that were added… not to long like the e-man… gouviea… naole… who have been there n lived it.. n is committed to hawaii as their home….maybe sum of that will rub off….hope so ne way…
